Thirteen years ago a beautiful baby boy was born to this world. He was only with us for almost two years but during that time all who knew him came to love him. Happy Birthday Jordan. We miss you

I went to a March of Dimes dinner with the doctor I work with on Jordan's birthday. They had an artist there painting an original painting. When I looked over there he was painting a heavenly scene with 3 little angel boys on the canvas. Dr. Bowels gave a donation for Jordan because she and I had talked about him that day. So baby boy I don't know if you were telling me that I was in the right place but it did give me goose bumps when I saw the painting. Grandma and Grandpa miss u bunches.

I read Connie’s posting on Facebook about noon today and spent most of the rest of the day reading Jordan’s journal. Carrie and Patrick I know neither of you have ever met me but Patrick’s grandmother, Mary Jacoba, and my father, Chester Real, were siblings; Connie is my first cousin. Having a grandson who turned 7 in October too, really made me want to know about Jordan. I read your love for Jordan in your words and the pain you felt and loss you still feel became real to me. I trust all who need share the strength of your journey have the opportunity to read your words and I prayed that every day all of you feel the blessing and peace God intended Jordan’s bright soul to leave in your hearts. (I was unable to find all the photos spoken about in the journal. Have they been removed?)

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Thanks for the update about your Dad. It seems that (under the conditions) things are going well in his treatment thus far. We will continue to pray for his recovery.
Wanted to say that it was so great to see you! Thanks for coming out on such a hot day. But then again --that is pretty normal summer weather! It has been pretty cool here for the end of August. Hi Guys:
It's been a while. I am so sorry to read of the new trial you're facing with your father. I will keep your family in my prayers.

I just visited Garrhett's website, for the first time in a while, and saw you were the last entry.

I am so happy to read that you two are busy with life and still planning another blessing. I hope all goes picture perfect.

I have recently moved on, although I am still in NC, it is time to put transplant behind me for a while and finish healing. Five years hasn't been long enough.

Please keep in touch. You two are inspirational, as were our ~~Angels~~.

I am sure that life holds many blessing for you.

Hi,
You don't know me but I was directed to your website cuz I have 2 boys with hunters right now, in transplant...same exact path as you..(so far). I want to first, say how sorry I am...I would relate to you in so many ways it was crazy as I read a lot of your entries....(we left illinois too to come down here, i was a teacher too) and I know it doesn't help much to say I'm sorry, but I wanted to tell you so you know that everyone who knows you and then ppl like me who read your journals, is feeling for you. And now, your dad....what I am trying to tell myself and what I want to tell you (I'm sure youve heard it before) but God must think you are just a really strong person, to be able to take on all of this. Try to remind yourself, when it gets hard for you, that God is choosing you, over millions, to handle these difficulties and then your reward will be eternal happiness in heaven with your beautiful baby. I also want to thank you so much for your detailed entries...I have been learning so much about this new life I am about to take on (times two!)..and I did not realize it before. Now I understand what we have signed our boys up for. But the alternative wouldn't have been any better. We are strong. That is all one can conclude. And you're totally entitled to hate it, and be bitter sometimes, and cry...it's all part of the difficulty that will one day be rewarded. I am here, silently reading and rooting for you...and praying for your dad for as little suffering as possible....take care....

hugs,
Angie

I don't sign in as often as I think of you but definitely wanted you to know I was thinking of you today on Mother's Day. I'm glad you're settled in and am glad your Dad is doing well. I just know something will happen for you to have another baby and I pray it will be soon. You are the best Mommy that Jordan could ever have!

Carrie and Patrick I just wanted to say I love you and I pray that if it is God's plan you will sell your house and be in Raliegh together soon instead of having this long distance marriage. Carrie I can't wait to see you and Cherie on the 12th. I'll have the crab legs ready, but I guess we will have to share with Cherie. lol

I am glad to hear you have decided to commit yourself to paying for IVF. I have been hoping that you would do that instead of relying on the insurance company. Although it would have been nice if they had seen things your way, I wasn't surprised. The cruel reality is that no one in the insurance industry seems to regard IVF as a medical necessity. In my opinion, if you have a medical need for IVF for infertility or genetic reasons it should be covered.

There may be more financial options open to you once you take the time to look in to them. When we did IVF we did a cost sharing program where you got 3 tries for a reduced price. If you got pregnant with less than 3 tries they made money. If you did not get pregnant you were refunded some of your money. They also had special loan programs set up with a local bank. We ended up taking out a home equity loan to pay for our IVF.

You can also possibly save some money if you connect with other local people who are going through IVF. They may have left over fertility meds that you can use. A friend of a friend had IVF coverage so her meds were paid for. After she got pregnant she gave me her left over meds which saved me a ton of money. After I got pregnant I passed on my left over meds to other women.

Sorry I wrote a book. I just wanted to give you some encouragement that you can do this on your own. By the way, I have triplets from IVF but did not need PGD. A friend of mine did need PGD and she gave birth to healthy triplets last October. I hope in a couple of years (or sooner) we are hearing about your pregnancy with a healthy baby or two.

Hi Carrie!
I just checked in on your dad's site. Done w/chemo.-YEAH! I just wanted to let you know that I have been keeping you & Patrick in my prayers as well. I am SO glad you are back in a school where you feel appreciated! and back around friends. Hopefully, you will have many more blessings coming soon! I know our situations are different, but I am dealing with fertility issues right now and I didn't know how much I could love a child that is just a thought. Anyway (before I start crying):-) I just really wanted to let you know how much I admire your strength & FAITH. I am keeping you,Patrick & Jordan in my prayers. I REALLY hope things work out for you. God Bless-Keri (Shoemaker)

Yippee!! I am so happy about the news about your dad and, selfishly, I am THRILLED that you are moving closer once again. Hopefully I will be able to get together with you once you are settled "locally" again. In the meantime, of course you know I will be praying for you. Blessings in Christ!

Carrie, I havent checked the site lately but I was so glad that I did today. Your news is great. I know that you are on top of the world and hopefully since everything seems to be falling into place it wont be long before your house sells. I know that living apart is going to be hard but absense makes the heart grow fonder and knowing that you are going to see Patrick on the weekends will make the weeks go by quicker. God is good and He has put you and your family through alot of test but I think that now He is rewarding you for your faithfulness, trust and obedience. I look forward to reading more good news as your lives take a new turn in this journey called life.

We thought of you and ^^Jordan^^ this when watching the Packers play (and win). Friends who are Vikings fans (obviously, given our location) were surprised to hear that we wanted the Pack to win (if the Bears were still in it, of course, it would have been a different story), but we've told everyone that very special people in our life - and one very special little boy - were behind our pick this weekend. Plus, Favre is having one heck of a year. Wow.

Carrie, I have been following your site since before the birth of your precious Jordan...I am so happy for the changes God is bringing into your lives, with the new job and move back to Raleigh...I am formerly from Nokomis, I think my ex-husb and your father car pooled to Dickey John in Auburn, back in late 70's when I lived in Witt. Have been praying for your father's recovery as I am a 17 yr cancer survivor also.
My sister lives in Greenville, NC and has been at Duke Med Ctr in Raleigh/Durham for 3 wk now as her 25 yr old son had a 2nd brain aneurysm and had surgery on Dec 22. He is slowly recovering. We are thankful for the care he is getting over there, and just wanted to you to know I am praying for you and your family. Norma

Carrie and Patrick -

Although the changes you are about to embark on won't necessarily be easy, it sounds like you're moving in a good direction with a lot of support. You both have such supportive employers, and that's so awesome! Know that we love you and think about you every day and are wishing you the best on this next leg of your journey together.
