I got to hold Mason as he slept on my shoulder this afternoon. I was reminded of our first Thanksgiving with him. I held for most of the length of the Egg bowl. What a great night that was. He really does make my heart smile. I can feel it. Then he awakes as says, "I want my Nanny." BURN!!! He shot me down.

I love y'all.

I love your new pictures. You are getting to be such a big boy now...and soon to be 5 years old too. I know you had so much fun in the snow. Looks like Jesse enjoyed it a little bit too. I wish we had gotten snow, but we very seldom do down in Texas. I hope you can get your Mom and Dad to bring you down here during the summer so you can get some more TEXAS clothes and stuff. Hey Dawn,

OH MY!! I missed your birthday! I didn't know you were born in February? No wonder I love you so much, and you are so SPECIAL. Yep, those February babies just don't come any finer!! (He He...)

Sounds like you had a wonderful celebration and Todd is just a doll sending you flowers at your dinner, now I'm IMPRESSED!! (and jealous too...)

I love the story about Mason. Yes, leave it to the little girls to "report". That is their speciality, they ALWAYS have a story waiting to be told! That was hilarious.

Mason is smart, "don't ask, don't tell", sounds like a plan to me. ALL my boys used that policy!

Well sweetie, hope you are having a great week, sorry it's taken me a while to get over here.

Blessings to you and oh, "Happy Belated Birthday" to you and your hubby!!

Love you!

Hey Mrs. Dawn. Arthritius woke me up early, so I am praying for you right now. I do not know what it is to loose a child, but GOD does know. He grieves with you and knows your mother's broken heart.

That Mason is a smart boy, and learning so much, even how to kiss up with the best of them. :) I loved seeing his Christmas pics. Let us see some more of your work with your new camera!!

Love you all in the name of Jesus Christ.

ugh!!! I am sooooo… sad today. After reading your update and Maddie's my heart is just.. well, broken. I do not understand why these things have to happen to our babies. I know that I know that I know that God has a plan for each of us and I guess that we won't know exactly what that plan is until we get to Heaven and see Him and Shae, and Hanna, and Ronell and Ben and Jake....and so many others that we love and miss. We just have to trust Him and I know that you do. Dawn, I love you, Todd and Mason and my heart just breaks for you because I cannot even imagine the pain of losing a child. I am so thankful for you and for your heart. Thank you for showing me and reminding me that none of us are promised tomorrow and to hold on to each God given moment.

Southaven, MS - Wednesday, January 30, 2008 8:09 AM CST
Hi Dawn.

Thanks for the update. It was great to "hear" from you. We were really missing you!

First, I can't even understand the feelings you must live with. I must say, though, that you continue to amaze me with your perseverance to push through your grief, and try, as hard as it may be at times, to focus on your blessings. You are truly an inspiration, and I know God will honor your faithfulness.

On to that major (adorable) blessing in your life, Mason, that boy is too cute! Men...they learn early, huh? He does have a point, though...he was only throwing at a bad guy. C'mon, Mom! =) I once read a precious little excerpt that said...Mom, Your first love. I can see that so glaringly in your relationship with him.

I will keep your friend in my prayers. When I read your update about her, this scripture came to mind.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

I also heard someone once say, He brings us to our knees, so we can more clearly see His face.

That doesn't always lighten our load, but hopefully it will comfort her knowing she is not in this battle alone.

Ok, I am now writing a novel, so I'll end by saying...I will keep you and your precious family in my prayers, always. Have a wonderful weekend.

Love, Kristin

Hey Dawn,

Wow, I can't believe you posted earlier this week and I didn't know!!

OK, now back to the update. This was truly the W-A-I-T.

I LOVED the new pictures of Shae. I've only seen a few, so this was a MAJOR treat. Oh my... how precious. You could not help but feel cheated. BUT...as we know, God had other plans. You got to be "chosen" for those precious tender years, what a joy he was. He'll always be your number 1 son!

Now, for little Mason. Poor baby. I don't know why you guys continue to NEGLECT him!! (He He...) Looks like Santa must of needed an extra sleigh.

I love the story you shared. Yes, he's got it for mom. Don't you just love being conned?

Well sweetie, hope you have a great weekend.

Thanks for posting. I'll start checking back more OFTEN. (hint...)

Love you,

Merry Christmas!

I would have waited for Shae's birthday to write, but I'll be away from the internet then.

The special day set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus is a wonderful day to remember that God's gift of His Son makes it possible for us to be with our children again, where there is no pain, fear, or sadness. And it will be forever.

Hey there,

Well, we just got back from a long weekend of Hockey. As I sat in the Sommett center, I thought of you and the great weekend we had there. Lets just say the atmosphere at a Hockey game was quite different from being there for Beth Moore.

I promise I am going to get the phone cover to you, I've been driving around with it in my car and forgetting to get over to the post office. However, I do think of you every day I see it.

We have a week off of school this week, looking forward to some down time. Hope you are doing well and Mason is having a great beginning of fall.
Miss you bunches,

I am so glad you had such a great weekend; I know Mrs. Susan LOVED getting to spend some more time with you. One of these days, I'll have to make another trip up to Memphis with them, and get to meet you and that precious boy of yours in person.

Hey Dawn,

It had been so long since I have visited this site. It doesn't mean that I haven't prayed for you and your family. I was glad to hear about that conference you attended that sounds wonderful. We ladies need that time with other ladies. I just gave a talk on Menotoring last night at our Ladies Ministry meeting at Church. It is so important to hear the teachings of other Christian women. I am glad to hear that Mason loves his MMO. My girls loved preschool. They are in Kindergarten and First grade this year. Kelli still struggles with the loss of her brother. Jerri does too, but Kelli is very sensitive and emotional about things. Well, anyway I am glad you and your family are doing well.

Always missing Will,

Hey Todd, Dawn, and Mason....
A voice from the past down Longhorn way!!! We are still rolling along down here waiting for your visit. I just read about your week-end. What a blessing it was for you all! I went to Shreveport last spring to hear Beth Moore...and like you all, it seemed like she was speaking to me (and that's what the rest of our groups said.)God just works those things out for us, doesn't he?
So exciting to hear that Mason is in MDO. Karlie (our 22 month old granddaughter) is going three days a week also, so I am getting a little time to do things at church. I can't believe how Mason has grown...saw the Longhorn towel in the picture. I have Mason's picture above my computer and think of you all so often.
The stores are FULL of Longhorn stuff now....anything you could possibly imagine...even Crocs...sleep shirts for ladies, you name it....they have it...SO.....if you want me to do any Christmas shopping for you, let me know.
Give Mason a BIG HUG from me...Chef Todd too. I will try to do better about staying in touch...I would have to write a book to catch you up on what all we are doing...staying so busy. Bob says hello.
Take care and come see us....

Hey Dawn. I had to tell you that I have been hearing all about the weekend. Wow. I have been praying for you ladies since Susan told me that ya'll would be going to the conference. God had HIS hand all over this trip didn't HE! As you girls are back home I am continuing to pray for you all to keep on remembering joyous jewels from the Lord, spoken through those leaders. I am asking God to strengthen you in every way.

Dawn, you and your family are such an inspiration to all who know you. Your ministry to those who are in the midst of the furnace of childhood cancer is so wonderful. God bless you today and every day, till we hear that longed for trumpet or until our Heavenly Father call us individually to our HOME/HOME! Love ya, girl.

I imagine that your little brother will be just like Cole. Not a bad thing, of course!!! I love you sweetie. I miss you too!!! Give MaMa a kiss for me - tell her I miss her too!!! Hey Dawn and Todd and Mason, I'm ashamed it's been so long since I've written to say hello, but I do check in on the site every couple of months or so to see how ya'll are. Tyler and Peyton are growing like weeds and Tyler starts BIG Kindergarten this week. He was supposed to start last week but fell and hurt his nub. As of today he is still on crutches but hopefully in a day or two he'll be good as new again. Sounds like you guys have been staying pretty busy with all the different events from month to month. We are still missing everyone so much and I always get a cringe when I read your site that I could be there joining in on the "fun"draisers :). Next time you guys come all the way to Crossville don't forget we're not all that much farther. We should get together in Knoxville and catch up. Glad you all are doing well. Miss ya much. April

Hello Pierce family, I stumbled across Shae's site tonight although I think I have visited before. I feel compelled to write to let you know what incredibly thoughtful people you are! I read through all of your journals, and you continually visit other families fighting the cancer beast, ask for prayers for other children, and support others no matter how much emotional pain you are going through. Your compassion and love for Jake is evident in each entry. I'm sure all St. Jude families feel blessed to have met you. Mason seems to be growing up into such an awesome boy. You are great parents!!!

Hi, Shae!

This is my first time to visit your site.

You had already been in Heaven a few years when my little girl joined you there. You've probably exchanged stories about vacations at Gulf Shores. Did she tell you that she was afraid to go into the ocean (or Gulf), even when I carried her, but she had such a wonderful time in the swimming pool? How about her beach ball, and how nervous it made her if the wind blew it toward the water?

You're such a good boy to help your family have a good vacation. You must be so proud of Mason!

Mason is growing up so fast...too fast! I want him back in diapers, he he... He is just adorable, he has a smile that can just melt my heart in pieces. Oh what a GIFT God blessed you with.

He has someone watching over him each day, Shae is doing a great job of taking care of his little brother.

She will be missed...

I saw the link to this journal on a comment you left on Tommi Simcox's journal and I was compelled to come read. I've just spent over an hour reading and crying. You are a strong and wonderful family. God bless you and whenever I see a butterfly from this point on I'll think of Shae. I have a little boy who is almost 3 and I thank God everyday that he is healthy. Have a wonderful day!

I meant to be sure and send MASON a birthday surprise and the time just got away from me. I am so sorry....It looks like he had a great time at his party! Give him a hug from me, please...and I promise to do better.
Hope you are all doing great! Things have been a little crazy here, but hopefully are settling down with a little "high blood pressure" medicine! Getting old has a few drawbacks, for sure!
Thanks for the kind words...Keep in touch. Bob and I hope to see you again someday before too too long.

we have been thinking about you and praying for you from Australia , I cried and cried with your last Journal entry , please know I am thinking of you through yourheart ache and I just wanted to share a poem with you that I HAVE on my sons webpage in dedication to all the parents that have children in Heaven
here it is
Ask my Mom how she is
My Mom, she tells alot of lies
she never did before.
From now until she dies,
she'll tell a whole lot more.
Ask my Mom how she is
and because she can't explain,
She will tell a little lie
because she can't describe the pain.
Ask my Mom how is she,
She'll say "I'm alright."
If that's the truth, then tell me,
why does she cry each night?
Ask my Mom how is she,
she seems to cope so well.
She didn't have a choice you see
nor the strength to yell.
Ask my Mom how she is,
"I'm fine, I'm well, I'm coping."
For Gods sake Mom, just tell the truth
just say your heart is broken.
She'll love me all her life,
I loved her all of mine.
But if you ask her how is she
she'll lie and say she's fine.
I am here in Heaven.
I cannot hug from here.
If she lies to you don't listen,
Hug her and hold her near.
On the day we meet again,
we'll smile and I'll be bold.
I'll say, "You're lucky to get in here, Mom
with all the lies you told!"

Hi Dawn, Todd and Mason,
I continue to think of you often. I wish I had some magical words or deeds to make this day easier, but I know too well that it's just not possible. The only thing you can do is to continue to focus on how Shae lived...happy, innocent and beautiful. I love all his pictures on your page. I'm so sorry that you are here without your precious Shae every day in your home. It's obvious his spirit continues to live through you and Mason.

Just wanted you to know that we hurt with you everyday, but extra hard on days like today.

Somone shared this Waldo quote with me recently, "What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us."
Your family has truly shown the amazing things that lie within you and how you've truly used your heartache for good.

Good Morning sweet Dawn and family,

Today I will remember and I will celebrate the gift of "William Shae Pierce" also. I did not have the "honor" of knowing him here, but oh, one day I will!

I pray you continue to find so much comfort in all your memories of his most beautiful smile and beautiful eyes. From all you have written about him, and all I have seen in little Mason, gosh...I KNOW he was very, very SPECIAL indeed.

God choose you Dawn, to be his mom, what a gift he was.

Thank God for for the promise you will see Shae again. A part of you now resides in heaven with him, and oh, how much sweeter it will be for you when you are finally all together again!

Keep holding on to your HOPE, your LOVE and your great FAITH,

Your friend,

The Four Leaf Clover

A four leaf clover...
A treasure...priceless and rare,
Like my child in Heaven above...
Now in God's tender loving care.

Each leaf...a meaning....a part of my grief
One leaf for strength...one for memories so dear...
One leaf for peace...and one for my faith in God above...
Each represents a part of my life..
My child in heaven...forever missed and forever loved.

The first leaf on the clover....
Stands for strength....to make it through the day....
From morning to night....darkness to light...
With Gods help each step of the way.

The second leaf on the clover....
Stands for peace...that only God can bring...
A Peace that restores my mourning heart...
Smooths the edges of the pain...
and help me learn to begin to live again.

The third leaf on the clover...
Stands for Memories...that I will always hold dear...
Their spirit will shine on in the memories left behind...
Although time may pass...they will never disappear.

The fourth leaf on the clover...
Stands for my faith in God above....
Believing with all my heart in what I cannot see...
Knowing we will meet again...
By the golden gates....in Heaven above.

Until then I'll keep my memories...
Tucked deep inside with love...
Along with my 4 leaf clover...
My treasures from Heaven above.

A Clover? A Treasure?
Blessings from above?
Strength, peace, memories, and faith
All sent from Heaven....with Gods everlasting love.

Hey Dawn,

Thank you, thank you and one more THANK YOU! Great update. I'm so glad you shared that article on grief by Max Lucado, I received it to, and oh, it was sooooooooo GOOD.

I just loved when he said:

“I’ll see you soon,” you speak the truth. Reunion is a splinter of an eternal moment away. Wow, how true, we are truly just a breathe away from spending eternity with the Lord and our loves ones, FOREVER.

It's hard to believe it's been 6 years since your sweet Shae stepped into the arms of Jesus. I can't imagine how much you must miss him each day.

Dawn, I know it's only by God's amazing GRACE you go on, and I know another secret. You have such a huge tender heart, always giving and caring for other's. You've taken the comfort you received and now comfort others. I know this keeps you going each day.

Thanks for being such a beacon of HOPE for me. I admire you so much, and I learn so much by watching you.

So blessed you had a great time with the Raborns, and oh, that was sooooooooooooo neat about the butterflies! God is so good.

Keep holding on to your HOPE,

Susan

PS Now, I'll be back checking up on you and yep, I'm already waiting for the NEXT update!!!

Hey Sis. Great update. I think you discuss Mason's potty progress too much. It is a private matter. He'll be fine. I believe Shae did help Liam. I love you and am proud to have you for a sister. Remember the movie, The Aristacats? One of the kittens tells his sister, "you're not a lady, you're just a sister" Well you are a lady too. I saw where Sissy logged in. It really is a small world. Don't forget to remind me about Ronell's concert.

Hey Sweet Shae, I miss you. I can't wait until we can all be together.

I believe Shae did teach them. And I understand the desire to have an effect that is bigger than one person. I asked them what they had learned from Liam. They said if he doesn't relapse that the amount of GVHD he has had and the lack of relapse on such an aggressive disease helps to support the theory of Grafts Vs Leukemia being MAJOR! Liam is finally a normal boy. No meds, no line to worry about, etc... It is nice. He will always be special and have special needs, but we now can just have a normal day. I thank Shae, Marcus, and all the others who have gone before us for the information and research they have provided the doctors to improve treatments.

We'll be back in May and would be happy to see you if you are around, though it is probably a quick visit.

Are ya'll doing a limo for Ronell? That would be pretty cool. If you think of a way for me and Staci to help, let me know. Oh...and sorry... Happy Birthday!! Mo

Valentines...... To Heaven

This Valentine is not of the ordinary kind,
Its still filled with love...and blessings inside;
But mine has to be sent on the wings of love...
You see its destination is the Heavens above.

Its not being sent to my parents so dear,
For they are still with me each day of the year;
Its being sent to my child...who left earth so soon,
Who's now in the Heavens with the stars and the moon.

The message is the same as your valentine,
"I love you...my sweet precious child of mine;
My love is still deeper than the ocean is blue,
And its sent with hugs and kisses...from me to you."

"I know you are with me each and every day,
You listen as I talk to you...and hear what I say;
For that is one thing that disease cannot do...
...you'll always be apart of me...and me a part of you."

"I know God did not give you the awful disease,
Thank Him for His comfort He gives me...would you please?
I dont know what I would do without His undying love...
Sent to bereaved parents from the Heavens above."

"I know you are in the best of care,
But it's so hard for us left on earth to bear;
Could you put in a request from us left behind...
For God to send the knowledge..so a cure we can find."

"So that no other family has to go through this pain,
Our lives without you will never be the same;
When I get lonely I will look to the sky at night...
And see you shining down your big bright light."

Now, this was a wonderful SURPRISE!! I said, well, let me just "check" and see if she updated and you did, YEAH!

I must admit my heart dropped when you wrote something like why update? I thought, hmmmm NO, don't STOP!!!

Yes, I love coming to see Shae's sweet smiling face, and then I get to hear all the cute "Mason Stories" too. He is something!

So glad he truly enjoyed Christmas. Hey, I was thinking, I found him a wife!! Yes, he can choose from my two beautiful grand-daughters. Does he prefer blonde's or brunettes? OK, I know he'll ALWAYS adore blonde's, but hey, ya never know!! We'll have to get this marriage lined up one of these days...

Well sweetie, see how much fun I have coming to your site, just totally rambling my head off, taking up your entire guestbook!

Christmas’

Each Christmas I remember
The ones of years ago;
I see my Parents and Grandparents with their Santa glow.

Each Christmas finds me dreaming
Of days that used to be,
When we hid presents here and there,
For all our family.

Each Christmas I remember
The smell in the air,
Of roasting turkey, pies
And cookies everywhere.

Each Christmas finds me longing
For Christmas’ now past,
And I am back in childhood
As long as memories last.

From our family to yours.

Merry Christmas and Happy New year!!

The Stockings Were Hung:

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
But one special stocking was no longer there
All that was left were the memories bittersweet
Of a life that had ended so incomplete

The family had pictures all gathered around
That sometimes made all of them tear up and frown
For the sorrow and sadness without their sweet child
Made it difficult for the whole family to smile

Although there were times when they felt him(her) so close
As if they were feeling some kind of a ghost
The signs that were sent were so special and clear
That they felt that he(she) truly was so very near

They often would talk to him(her) as if he(she) was there
Sometimes they would smile but also shed tears
For each Christmas that came brought with it such pain
That they felt in their hearts would always remain

Then one special moment on one special day
He(She) came to them and simply took them away
To fly through the heavens and up to the stars
A beautiful place that was not very far

He(She) showed them where they would all join once again
A place full of beauty no sorrow or pain
A place where he(she) is happy with heavenly friends
A place where we too will also ascend

After their amazing visit was through
This family was no longer terribly blue
For they finally realized one day not to far
They would all be together on a heavenly star

Dear Mason family ~
I just wanted to let you know that it is now past 7 p.m. in my time zone, and in keeping with the tradition of the National Candlelighters 10th Annual Wave of Light, I lit several candles in memory of some of my dear family members as well as for several of the darling babies who became angels much sooner than anyone expected. One of those candles is for your Shae. All of the candles burning are either red, green or gold in keeping with the Christmas spirit, so I lit a gold one for him. Some of the other babies I lit candles and said prayers for are Jake Raborn, Jacob Duckworth, Stanton and Emma Grace.
God bless you all.
BELIEVING,

Hey Dawn, Todd, and Mason...
Sounds like Saturday was a great day. Wish we could have been there. I LOVE the pictures...The butterfly flying around almost did me in! I know Shae was so proud of his parents and friends. His memory lives on..I read once when someone you love dies, the memories become treasures. Oh, what treasures the Pierce family has. Even though I never met Shae, I can't see a butterfly and not think of you all.
AND, there are butterfly things EVERYWHERE...I guess there have always been lots of butterflies, BELIEVE signs, and M&M stuff....and I never had a reason to really notice them. But, oh I do now. Love you guys..Call me if you want me to do some "shopping" for you.

The Gap

The gap between those who have lost children and those who have not is profoundly difficult to bridge. No one, whose children are well and intact can be expected to understand what parents who have lost children have absorbed and what they bear. Our children come to us through every blade of grass, every crack in the sidewalk, every bowl of breakfast cereal. We seek contact with their atoms, their hairbrush, their toothbrush, their clothing. We reach for what was integrally woven into the fabric of our lives, now torn and shredded.
A black hole has been blown through our souls and, indeed, it often does not allow the light to escape. It is a difficult place. For us to enter there is to be cut deeply, and torn anew, each time we go there, by the jagged edges of our loss. Yet we return, again and again, for that is where our children now reside. This will be so for years to come and it will change us profoundly. At some point in the distant future, the edges of that hole will have tempered and softened but the empty space will remain - a life sentence.
Our friends will change through this. There is no avoiding it. We grieve for our children, in part, through talking about them and our feelings for having lost them. Some go there with us, others cannot and through their denial and a further measure, however unwittingly, to an already heavy burden. Assuming that we may be feeling "better" six months later is simply "to not get it." The excruciating and isolating reality that bereaved parents feel is hermetically sealed from the nature of any other human experience. Thus it is a trap - those whose compassion and insight we most need are those for whom we abhor the experience that would allow them that sensitivity and capacity. And yet, somehow there are those, each in their own fashion, who have found a way to reach us and stay, to our comfort. They have understood, again each in their own way, that our children remain our children through our memory of them. Their memory is sustained through speaking about them and our feelings about their death. Deny this and you deny their life. Deny their life and you no longer have a place in ours.
We recognize that we have moved to an emotional place where it is often very difficult to reach us. Our attempts to be normal are painful and the day to day carries a silent, screaming anguish that accompanies us, sometimes from moment to moment. Were we to give it its own voice we fear we would become truly unreachable, and so we remain "strong" for a host of reasons even as the strength saps our energy and drains our will. Were we to act out our true feelings we would be impossible to be with. We resent having to act normal, yet we dare not do otherwise. People who understand this dynamic are our gold standard. Working our way through this over the years will change us as does every experience - and extreme experience changes one extremely. We know we will have recovered when, as we have read, it is no longer so painful to be normal. We do not know who we will be at that point or who will still be with us.
We have read that the gap is so difficult that, often, bereaved parents must attempt to reach out to friends and relatives or risk losing them. This is our attempt. For those untarnished by such events, who wish to know in some way what they, thankfully, do not know, read this. It may provide a window that is helpful for both sides of the gap.

Psalm 42:1-8 (New Living Translation)

Psalm 42

For the choir director: A psalm[a] of the descendants of Korah.

1 As the deer longs for streams of water,
so I long for you, O God.
2 I thirst for God, the living God.
When can I go and stand before Him?
3 Day and night I have only tears for food,
while my enemies continually taunt me, saying,
“Where is this God of yours?”
4 My heart is breaking
as I remember how it used to be:
I walked among the crowds of worshipers,
leading a great procession to the house of God,
singing for joy and giving thanks
amid the sound of a great celebration!

5 Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise Him again—
my Savior and 6 my God!

Now I am deeply discouraged,
but I will remember you—
even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan,
from the land of Mount Mizar.
7 I hear the tumult of the raging seas
as your waves and surging tides sweep over me.
8 But each day the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me,
and through each night I sing His songs,
praying to God who gives me life.

Hey Guys!!

I just wanted to leave you a note to say "hello" and that we LOVE & MISS seeing you! I'm SO SORRY I've not signed in before now! I'm with Susan, it's totally understandable that you need a break! You guys just keep doing what you're doing (looking at JESUS) and He will let you know when the time is right to get back on board with your ministry.

Oh, before I forget ..... I made an extra site for Brent just for the sake of storing links to our friends sites. I've added Shae, might should've asked you first, but I'll remove it quickly if you want. (I REALLY didn't think you'd mind - please say if you do)

ALRIGHTY .... I'll let you go for now!

We LOVE YOU GUYS!

Hi Dawn,

Oh my, the pictures are FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing them!

Dawn, I want you to know I've been praying extra hard for you. I know how much you loved Jake and the whole family, heck, they are "family" to you. I know you would miss them.

My heart is heavy for you, I can't imagine all the feelings and emotions it stirs up. You were "there" for them, and this was something you had to do.

I think taking a "break" is a good thing, and you know, I know it won't be for long. You will be back blessing others and cheering them on, but for now, just enjoy your precious Mason and your handsome hubby!

Love you girlfriend,

It's all good in the 'hood! I know you are heavy-hearted for us, but I think if you could be here with us, you would be better. Staci is doing really well. Saying that seems to denote to some taht she is doing "just swell", and I don't think I have to tell you that that is faaaaaarrrrr from the truth! However, she is a pillar of strength. Don, well, keep praying for him! He has his buds that are helpful to him... and Todd and he have been spending time together. Take heart! Jake's family is OK. and Jake is even better! Hi Dawn,

Wow, I'm impressed, once again! You are on the ball these days...

Thanks so much for sharing those awesome points from Sunday's sermon, hey, I'd love a copy of his message if possible, sounds incredible! I'm familiar with him , he has written some great books.

Once again you continue to amaze me Dawn. I read a neat quote today, and I thought of you. I know you are trying to get in shape, (for that famous "black dress"), but you are always doing this kind of exercise:

"There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up." John Holmes

Yes, in all that you have endured, you continually reach out to others and lift them up. Your hope is contagious.

I'll be in touch about our visit!!

Hey Dawn,
Wonderful update! I have read several people's comments about your church service on Sunday. It must have been awesome. Surely hit home to me! I typed a long entry today and lost it...Even though we never knew Shae (and I wish we could have), I think of him (and you all) every time I see ANYTHING with a butterfly. I just got a bunch of catalogs in the mail, and it seems like there are things with butterflies all over. I think it is just wonderful that you minister to people the way you do. I know you will never get over the loss of Shae, but you have used his story to help so many. I know God will bless you.
Take care..Tell Todd hello and give Mason a BIG HUG! ARE YOU SURE YOU CAN'T TAKE SOME VACATION DAYS?

Something about this TEXAS food..well, Mexican food...that put the pounds on Bob and me. Of course, I have not gotten up to exercise. When we left church last night, we both intended to come home and walk..Instead, we stopped at the new Baskin-Robbins and each got a HUGE ice-cream cone! That's true will power, huh? We are going on a mission trip to Vermont the end of September and we have to get in shape or I won't make it through the day without my nap. MAYBE TOMORROW..that's my goal.
I know you will be seeing Staci and Jake. Give them a hug from me. I bet Jake and Mason will be happy to see each other again.
Tell Todd hello....happy exercising...you will do it. You have determination, but it will be hard...with Todd being such a good cook. Give Mason a big hug. I can't wait to see him again. Did you get my e-mail about the UT schedule? Ya'll come!!!

Dawn,
Hey girl. I just had you on my heart today and decided to check in on you and drop you a note. I am so glad that you had a wonderful vacation. We actually just got home from Destin ourselves. I think it is nothing short of a "God thing" that you were at the same condo that you shared with Shae. I bet he was looking down from Heaven and just telling you to enjoy life and beaming proudly about the way you have reached out to so many of us St. Jude families. You and Todd are amazing and you will never know this side of Heaven how you have touched so many of our lives with your unselfish giving of yourselves to others. Just wanted you to know that I was thinking of you today and praying for God to bless you a hundred fold for all that you have done for us and others. Have a great day.

Hey Dawn....I hope you and Todd and Mason had a wonderful time. I prayed that "emotionally" it would not be too difficult for you and Todd. I pray you all found a renewed strength. For some reason God has placed you on my heart....actually ALL over my heart. I truly believe He has a ministry for you at CHC. I think with there already being 4 St. Jude families in one church as large as this one I believe He has placed you and Todd there for a reason. I don't know if you were able to be there tonight but....WOW.....He sure showed up in a HUGE way tonight! The connection that you have with the Bowen's and Tammi and our family and now Tina...and the fact that we all attend the same church just keeps telling me God has got something planned. Anyway....I hope to see you again soon.....And I check your site everyday...I love when you update.....God speaks through you in such a passionate way!

Hi Dawn,

Wow, what a great update, GO DAWN!!!

First off, can I borrow Todd, please? I'll get the tickets to fly him down. I just need some painting, packing, and some small repairs, oh and to rip up the carpet in all 3 of my boys' room, is this a deal or what?

So glad to hear you are having things re-done, that is always fun, (when you are not MOVING!)

I was also blessed to read about your new church, that is also so exciting, and so important. It is the second best thing to our families for sure.

Hope to see you when we get there!

Woo Hoo Dawn,
I am SO glad you updated, and what a GREAT update it was! Todd is definitely a good guy...Bob cooks and builds, etc..It has taken me 41 years to get him trained EXACTLY right, but he has made it!
Now, we MUST stop this talk about painting Mason's room purple. I just came in from shopping around all day and everywhere I went I saw some really cute ....you know what kind of stuff! (I won't say since some people like the Raborns/Groves read this). They have EVERYTHING for the LH....Just say the word and I'll go looking for you!
I am SO glad you enjoyed Colonial Hills and will be going again. Did you get my e-mail that I told Maggie about you all?
OK...take care.Give Mason a hug....talk to you later. Thanks to you and Todd for being such special people...

Ahhhhh... Miss Libby beat me! But, I DO know that Don was up at the wee hours of the morning reading, he just didn't sign on. I finished a new layout for Jake's scrapbook last night. It is titled, "LSU vs. UT" , and the rest I will leave to your imagination! It has pics of Todd and his banana pudding with LSU in whipped cream on top! I have big close ups of Jake (in purple and gold) and Mason (in hideous burnt orange!) right beside the big LSU and UT. It is pretty cute! Oh, and there is also a picture of Mason doing "Hook em Horns" and of Jake and my Todd doing an "L" on their foreheads. WHAT does that mean?!!! Mo

We are there every day, and the rest of the time, we are at Target House, so I would be delighted to say hello. My sons and I looked at Shae's page today. What a beautiful boy! Kind of eerie connections between Liam and him! He passed away when Liam was conceived (though I don't know about the exact date), Liam is short for William, though we named him Liam-not William, they both have beautiful angelic faces with bright eyes pearing out, both were told to have leukemia first, etc... I hope we get a chance to meet sometime.

~Walk a little slower~

Walk a little slower, Daddy,
Said a little child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps
And I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they are hard to see;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you.

Hello my beautiful friend! I've been checking on you but I haven't had time to sign. Between my new job, chasing Chloe, keeping up with Ian, and church...I can't seem to find time to do much of anything else. But I wouldn't have it any other way. Don't feel bad about the toddler bed thing, Chloe is 4 and I'm just now getting ready to put her in her own bed. Ian finally got a DAY JOB!! It's a big transition for her, but bigger for me. I don't know if I can do it. Anyway, I'm sure Todd will be fine...Mason will probably do better. So I understand where he is coming from. Love ya!!! Talk to ya later. Dawn- I come here from Jake's site. I had never been to Shae's site before. Although I do not know the Raborn's personally, I have come to love them dearly through Jake's site. I can't thank you enough for being so kind to them, whether it be opening up your home, providing dinner or even just shoulder to lean on. I can't imagine how great they must feel to "know" someone in the area and someone who has been in their situation.

Thank you so much for being there for Don & Staci. God truly is using you in a powerful way. You can see how many people keep up with and love Jake & his family, but none of them are at their side and have truly "been there" like you and Todd. God will always continue to bless you as long as you continue to honor Him like you are doing. Shae is a beautiful boy! I can't imagine your emptiness there but I do understand your anticipation of that glorious day when you will see him again. Thank God for His saving grace and the promise of Heaven!!!

Oh, and by the way, I sure wish you could come visit our church in West Monroe. I go to Cedar Crest with Mo and the rest of the gang when they could come. I guess that's a little far though, huh!?! Thanks for all you do for Jake, Staci & Don.

Dear Dawn,
Your entry has brought tears to my eyes. I know I say this all of the time, but you have to have the sweetest spirit in the world. You always put your own worries, fears, broken heart aside, and help others. I know Jesus is so pleased with His child, YOU!
You are such an encourager, servant, wonderful mother and wife! I am so thankful that God has allowed our paths to cross. You inspire me in so many ways. THANK YOU!
I will be praying for you more than ever this month. I will also be praying that God leads you to the exact church He wants you at.
Love, Kristin

Dawn,
I check Shae's site often, but don't sign. (sorry)
Anyway, I know you are not "Methodist", but you are welcome to try our church Getwell Road Methodist. We have wonderful programs for kids and good stuff for the adults too. We are part of a great Sunday School class.
Have a good week. (Jake is constantly on my mind and in my prayers)

Dawn-I would sure love to meet you!!You are such an inspiration to so many people!!It is so nice of you to give back by loving and supporting the other St.Jude families!!I bet your Shae is just so proud!!I can't even began to imagine your loss but no,I don't think anything you would do(like comparing Mason and Shae)would be crazy because I have never been thru what you have and people deal with things differently.Your FAITH in HIM just shines thru in every entry!!Maybe, one day I can come tour the Jude and meet you, that would be AWESOME!!!You are a SPECIAL lady!!

Well Dawn, If I had checked your site before I e-mailed you, I would have known you had seen Will's family! But, that's ok....I loved hearing from you. I really appreciated your entry tonight. It was truly from the heart. It is impossible for me to know how much you miss Shae and what a wonderful little boy he was, but I know he is smiling big to see how his wonderful parents minister to so many people. You have allowed God to work in your lives so that you can help others, and I know you will be blessed for it.
Have fun at CARS...Our grandsons saw it last week and are still talking about it. My son-in-law is a State Farm Agent and State Farm sponsored it so the boys think that is cool...In fact, the four year old said, "Daddy helped make the movie." You know, Daddy can do EVERYTHING!
Talk to you soon. Thanks for the e-mail. I am looking so forward to meeting you in person when we get up that way. Thought it would be in June, but we have backed it up until the end of July.
Keep in touch..Again, thanks for updating...

Mrs. Pierce, I just want to tell you how much you are admired and loved by so many. You are an amazing woman of strength, courage, happiness and tons of other adjectives I could go on and on with. I read Jake's site daily and Stanton's also and always see how you are giving and loving all of these families daily. Even through your own pain and suffering you still manage to be a beacon of hope and a ray of sunshine to others. To know that you have helped someone else and touched the lives of so many must be a wonderful feeling. My thoughts and prayers are with you daily as you continue to miss your beautiful boy and continue to lend a hand to others. I admire you so much.

LETTING YOU KNOW THAT YOUR THOUGHT OF ON MOTHER'S DAY.KEEPING YOU IN MY THOUGHTS AND IN MY PRAYER'S ALWAYS.

A Mother's Day Wish From Heaven

Dear Mr. Hallmark,

I am writing to you from heaven, and though it must appear
A rather strange idea, I see everything from here.
I just popped in to visit, your stores to find a card
A card of love for my mother, as this day for her is hard.

There must be some mistake I thought, every card you could imagine
Except I could not find a card, from a child who lives in heaven.
She is still a mother too, no matter where I reside
I had to leave, she understands, but oh the tears she’s cried.

I thought that if I wrote you, that you would come to know
That though I live in heaven now, I still love my mother so.
She talks with me, and dreams with me; we still share laughter too,
Memories our way of speaking now, would you see what you could do?

My mother carries me in her heart, her tears she hides from sight.
She writes poems to honor me, sometimes far into the night
She plants flowers in my garden, there my living memory dwells
She writes to other grieving parents, trying to ease their pain as well.

So you see Mr. Hallmark, though I no longer live on earth
I must find a way, to remind her of her wondrous worth
She needs to be honored, and remembered too
Just as the children of earth will do.

Thank you Mr. Hallmark, I know you’ll do your best
I have done all I can do; to you I’ll leave the rest.
Find a way to tell her, how much she means to me
Until I can do it for myself, when she joins me in eternity.

Dawn-Hey girl! Sounds like you had a good girls weekend away. I think I may be in need of one of those. It amazes me how many things make us think of our sweet angels. My niece will see a butterfly when they are playing and say "look mommy Stanton came to play" especially if it is blue butterfly. When Stanton first passed away I was staring out the back door and a red breasted robin walked right up to the porch and just stood there. This happened every day for weeks. I would just go by there and as the bird walked up I was just say "Hey Stanton". He always loved birds. What is amazing is that I can open the door and everything and he will not fly off. I had a very dear friend tell me she made the lawn men stop mowing until her robin had come to her window for the morning. Even in the snow a robin would come to her window almost every morning. She too would talk to him for a while and then he would leave. I guess some people think I am crazy but if it makes me feel better I don't care. Everytime I go to the angel garden and airplane flies over and Stanton use to say "Airplanes make me so happy!" WE miss you guys. Love you

hello. you dont know me, and I really dont know you and your family except through the websites of stanton and jake. I am originally from minden, la, home of stanton haynes and went to college in monroe, la, right across the river from jake raborn. I dont know the Raborn family from anyone, but grew up with Stanton's aunt jamie from the 6th grade on. I have come to check this website as often as I check Jake and Stanton's and pray for your family daily. I just want you to know how much of an inspiration you are and how much I admire you for your selflessness (if that is even a word) for not even posting anything regarding your family or your needs and just posting a need for prayers for jake's family. You truly are an inspiration to all especially families that are still in this battle. (not to say your family doesnt face a battle each and every day) I hope and pray that you and your family are granted peace, comfort and happiness in the days to come and want to celebrate the life of your beautiful baby boys! They are both amazing!!! I only hope that Mason will be reminded every day of the wonderful brother he was blessed with!!!! You are in my prayers daily and sorry for the long entry!!!!
