I'm so glad to see you doing well! I am sure you don't remember me, but I remember you. I was one of the Child Life Volunteers at Cook that used to come in and play dinosaurs with you and then was your summer camp cabin counselor. It was such a joy to walk with you. Experiences with awesome kids like you helped push me to achieve my life goal - I'm now a pediatric cardiologist! Thanks for the inspiration along the way. Clayten's hardships are nothing compared to what Ethan had to go through, but I can tell you how proud I am of the person he has become because of them. He knows how to fight for what he wants and I am sure that Ethan does even more. Would I wish it on anyone? Of course not, but I can embrace the blessings that have come along because of them. I'm sure you do this as well. Ethan is on the journey that he was meant to take and I'm sure great things will come out of his experience. The hard part is waiting to see what those will be.

Good News....Thank goodness it is shingles...I know it must be painful. My 11 year old had them when he was younger on his right leg and they were painful enough that he couldn't walk for a couple days.

Hey Shannon and Gang - Glad all is going well. I have a quick request. I am doing a photo collage of kids with cancer to raise awareness about childhood cancer. It will be displayed in our restaurant. I would like to include Ethan's pic. Please mail to: Misty Ueckert 1015 FM 2887, Ballinger, TX 76821 along with his diagnosis, date of diagnosis, and current age. Also, if you know of anyone else who would like to be included, please pass on my info. I meant to write you earlier and let you know that your high school friend who moved to Ballinger did eat in the store and introduce herself. We are doing ok. We still miss Trent terribly. Our entire family went to the Great Wolf Lodge for Christmas and it was good to get away. Christmas would have been Trent's 16th birthday. We had his friends out for a birthday party. They are wonderful with Allie and they have really been there for us too.
I'm sure they have no idea how much their hugs everytime we see them mean to us. We make a point to attend as many of their sporting events etc. as we can. Well, gotta go. My class is headed back from pe. Please send the pic as I have had this in the works for quite some time and really need to get it finished and up. Blessings to you and yours! As part of the St. Baldrick's Team, Ethan's Cure (2007), I was checking in to see how Ethan and Nathan were doing. I am heartened to see that Ethan is still battling through the treatments! It's my prayer that you will be strengthed and that Ethan will remain strong through this very hard time. May you find strength in the knowledge that many are praying for you and pulling for his FULL recovery!

Out of all your plans for the new year, potty training Abagail definitely sounds like the most difficult! And getting Ethan off chemo definitely sounds like the most exciting! At children's church on Sunday, Steve was saying that sometimes things are not what we expect, and that maybe this year won't be what we expect either - it might be full of surprises. And it took everything within me to keep from groaning out loud and saying, "dear God, please no! No surprises! Let's just have a nice, normal year where everything goes according to plan - is that too much to ask?" So, here's hoping that for both of our families, and if there are any surprises - they better be good ones!
