Isabella at 18 months old was diagnosed 1/10/2002 with AML M5 with 11q23 (10,11) MLL gene rearrangement. She relapsed in her Central Nervous System shortly after finishing induction therapy (IDA-DOCTER)and just completed a Bone Marrow Transplant May 22, 2002 with a cord blood 5/6 match. Her medical treatments for leukemia caused her kidneys to fail. She was on peritoneal dialysis for one year before dad donated his kidney June 2006. Please pray for Isabella and all brave children with medical illnesses.

Monday, April 28, 2008 11:09 PM CDT Isabella is doing great. She is loving 1st grade but ready for summer. She started growth hormone 3 months ago and we are still waiting for growth. Hopefully soon! She had 1 mole biopsied, 1 wider margin removal, and her lip (white patch) biopsied on friday. Of course, now that she is getting older, it gets harder to go under anesthesia. It was traumatic. I think next time we will ask for ativan before to calm her nerves. We still miss about 3-4 times per month of school due to appointments. We have come a long way since transplant!!
William is doing great too. He starts kindergarten in the fall and is busy with legos and playing with star wars toys. He is beginning to read like his big sister. The kids play so nicely with each other and when one isn't feeling good the other one senses it. It is almost like having twins.
Best Wishes, The Ledesma Family
