Born September 17th 1998 and CANCER FREE SINCE FEB.19TH 2003!!! 3 Years YES!!!!!!!
Kristen was diagnosed with stage 3 Rhabdomayosarcoma Aug.30th 2001.It was a 10cm.tumor in her bladder,leading out into her ureathra,no urine could pass. She was only 2,and started constantly screaming when going potty... every 5 minutes.The doctor,in June 2001, told us it was just a urinary tract infection and kept switching anti-biotics and we went through months of aganozing doctor visits,all with different diagnosis,until August 29,2001- Kristen was FINIALLY admitted.That following day,Aug.30th,our whole family went numb after being told Kristen had a tumor in her bladder,and was millignant!I was 7 months pregnant and never expected anything worse in my life for this to happen.But God was with us and Kristopher was born Sept.17th,2001,same Birthday as Kristen's,3 years apart.Kristen underwent EXTREME heavy chemo,for a year and a half and had 25 harsh treatments of radiation near her abdomen+ pelvic area,and is scarred for life from all the burns on her private parts.(Mommy+ Daddy were home nurses) and i must say i could officially qualify as a nurse after all the home treatments our Little one received,many times near death.Kristen had more "downs" than ups during this horrible time,and had to have her bladder,uterus+ part of her vagina removed May 17,2002,the chemo and radiation didn't work on this tumor!
BUT.... She has been cancer free now since her bladder was removed in May of 2002, and has finished her chemo in Feb.'03,due to numerous infections,her port was so infected,Dec.'02,NO medicine would go through(emla cream didn't even work)and Kristen had another port surgery on her left side Dec.'02,which lasted only 2 weeks -ALSO DUE TO INFECTION!!!So finially the Doctors tried a picc.line in her arm(to finish the last few months of chemo),and Kristen's body also regected that method,and she ended up having blood clots all through her arm(from the infected picc line)leading to her heart!They had to find one more spot for antibiotics-in her groin-just so she didn't have to be poked all over again!Kristen had to have 4 MONTHS of daily shots in her both legs of lovenox,a blood thinner,2 times a day.She encountered numerous staff infections and about a year of unexplained diahrreah,BUT look at her now,no one would ever know she had cancer!Kristen is doing great!!She is competitive,strong and very athletic!!BR>Please sign Kristen's guestbook,and let her know you stopped by,even if its to say Hi.She is finially starting to read ,too. This is me,Kristen!!! I am finially writing all by myself
i am doing great. I love second grade my teachers name is
Ms. Frangedakis,and she is very pretty and very nice i
have 22 kids in my class and gym and music and art are my
favorite subjects.I love the monkey bars and i like most
sports.I like to play with my brother alot cause he's so smart and funny. I like my brats,i have 5 of them!I like playing don't break the ice and trouble and i like to play topple. I am learning alot!! We got those for our birthday's( me and Kris) our birthday was September 17th and i'm 8 and Kris. is 5!! I like riding my bike with no hands,and i scare my Mommy like crazy!
Please leave a letter for me on my guestbook because i like reading all my mail.I also love getting mail in our mailbox.
