Tracy, first.. happy thanksgiving to all of you.. second, just wondering if katia getting lightheaded during those episodes could be from anxiety..sort of like a panic attack... you know, nervous because she can't swallow...just a thought!

It's the time of year when we're reminded to give thanks.
Instead of waiting until next year to be reminded,
Let's make every day one of thanksgiving;
After all, each day is a unique gift.
So, give a hug for no reason;
Say I love you, just because;
Share a smile with a stranger;
Take the time to count your blessings;
Don't take anything or anyone for granted;
And end each day with no regrets.
Thank you, my friends and family,
For sharing, caring, laughing and crying with me.
I'm truly blessed to have each and every one of you in my life
And I am thankful you have allowed me
To be a part of yours.
May you and yours have a safe and memorable Thanksgiving.

Hi again, Katia.......I really like those sunglasses too. My grandson, Harlan, called his "My coolshades." He wore his everywhere when he was 3...even to bed...in the bathtub too. He's 28 now and lives in Atlanta...I wonder if he still wears 'em to bed and in the shower?

I'll be seeing you on about February 1st...then I go to Everglade's City for book signings during the Seafood Festival..........yum, yum...sure looking forward to some fresh fish and crabs at my pal's riverside restaurant.

My favorite food is SEE FOOD...See food and eat it.

Hi Princess!!! I have not signed in so long. I am sorry for that. I have been checking your page every day though! I read the new blog and check the prayer requests also! Did you know I still have my lady bug bracelet??? I've been wearing for almost 4 years i believe. I've never taken it off. I've had countless other bracelets but they have all broken except the lady bug one! I love bracelets. I really liked your Halloween costume! What an awesome idea! You looked exactly like a mummy! My son Alex is going to be 4 next week on the 27th. Guess what day his birthday is on this year? Thanksgiving! I bought him a spider man bike. We have lady bugs in our house again this year. They always come in when it's cold. They are so cute. I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving and eat lots of yummy food! I love you Katia! Always in my prayers forever in my heart!!!! =)

Hi, Miss Katia! I just love the pictures of you as a MUMMY!!! It made me smile, to read that you started counting down Halloween at about day 45. Our youngest started at around 50!! PHEW, that can be a long time for some children!! I sure hope your eyes are feeling better, and hope Mommy is feeling better too. Now to go check out those beach pictures (I forgot before coming over to your gb)....that sure sounds like a nice day. Can you believe I haven't been to the beach in a few years?! I hope your school year is still going well.

Hi there,
My name is Theresa Johnston and i have an 11-year-old daughter, Nicole. Each year Nicole researches a cause that is close to her heart. This year she found your daughter (and others) on the Make a child smile site. Would it be OK for Nicole to send a card and a small gift to Mackenzie? Nicole wants them to "know how proud I am of them and how brave they are too". We live in Belmont MA.

Please keep my son in your prayers as he has been offered a cord blood donation. But he need 2 different cord bloods due to his weight. We are at odds on what to do. Maybe you can give me some advice? I pray Katia gets better. The last time I visited her webpage she looked so great! Just keep those memmories everyday of her and leave your worries and concerns in God hands. That is what I am trying so hard to do!

Im just checking up to see how everything was going. I am having a great time in college at FSU, but I just wanted to let you know that I do keep Katia in my thoughts everytime, and have been praying extra for those loved ones who need our support since I went on a religious retreat this weekend that was eye-opening and inspiring. Again I hope everything is well and I know everything is going to be ok. Stay strong Katia, it may hurt now but I know God will bless you with great health and comfort very soon!

Hi, Miss Katia! Sorry it's been so long since I've signed. The last time I stopped by was just before school started, and BOY has it been busy! With 3 children in school and sports, and family visiting from TX, and -- well, you know -- it's been a while. I'm glad Katia's tush was feeling a bit better. Hopefully it's still that way! And I'm glad Katia is happy about her new school year. That's always great when kids like school!! Tatiana, I'm sorry I missed your SIXTEENTH birthday. Boy, that's hard for me to believe!! It's been over 6 years that I've been visiting your sister's site and it doesn't seem possible that you were about 10 when I started!!!

Well, I hope everyone's doing okay and that Sharayah is doing great at college this year.

Haven't had too much time lately to sign guestbooks...but I was blessed with some volunteers this week that helped with all the work that gave me free time today...so here I am! :)

Just wanted you to know that Katia continues in my prayers...and to wish a Happy Birthday to Tatiana!!!

Also I wanted to share some words of encouragement for when life throws you a curve ball…

“If we could, by some wonderful force from heaven, be allowed to slip from this earth in our present state and into the glory of heaven, we would not find one shred of evidence that reveals panic. You would never once hear “oops” from the lips of God, or “I wonder what we’re going to do about that down there?” Nor would we ever observe anxiety across the face of the living God. We would be stunned with amazement at how calm things are around his throne.

From this side of glory we see the tapestry of life from underneath. It is full of knots and twisted threads and frayed ends that lack meaning and beauty. But from God’s perspective, looking at the top of the fabric, it is all under control.”
From Encouragement for life by Charles Swindoll…

May you see that glory of God in your life today….

I just wanted to let you know that I have been following Katia's story for years now and I regularly check your site to see you she and her family are doing.

I found this site when I was called as marrow match and I wanted to learn more about what the recipients went through. I put my donation story on the web at www.marrowdonor.net and you are still listed as one of the wonderful stories about how marrow and cord blood donation can save lives.

Thank you for letting all of us who fell in love with your little girl and your family still follow your story.

P.S. My recipient is doing wonderfully now!

Hi, Miss Katia and family. I was glad to find an update today. Tracy, I know you update on the Message Board but I just don't make it over there very often. I think the board is great (I definitely used it when my brother was ill, and then passed away), but I just love coming to "KATIA'S PAGE" and reading about her and her family. :) I love the new pic of you and Katia. She is such a sweet young lady! She has you and Myron to thank for that! I will keep hoping that her eyes get better, and I'm glad to hear she is advancing in her learning. We, too, believe in the importance for the love of reading.

I hope everything is going okay with Myron, and that Sharayah is getting back into her college classes okay. About 25,000 students returned to our area for their first classes today. I also hope that Tatiana finds some answers to her health issues. And...I haven't heard about you lately, so I'm hoping you are doing better too! Thank goodness Mr. Fozzy is a healthy pup -- !!! :)

Well, I better go. Tell Katia hello for me.

I was just checking in with everyone. Throughout the years we have made so many CB friends. I found this poem and thought it was perfect.

The Power of Friends

Everyone knows of the power of friends,
The terrific result, when everything blends.
When people have friends, they don’t stand alone;
Friends always help, when you face the unknown.

Friends give you courage to face problems untold,
So the love of a friend can help make you bold.
They can help you to live a much richer life,
So your every day living will be less filled with strife.

Thanks for being my friend!

Hi, Miss Katia and family. I know....it's been about a month since I've been by...so sorry. Unfortunately, my busy June carried into an-even-busier July. I sure wish you were feeling better. Summer "vacation" should be a bit more exciting than it sounds like yours has been. We don't do anything special, but just those lazy days of no schedules and staying up late are awesome. I chuckled a bit, when I saw the "face" on the blood donor character. Must be your flash provided more light than expected!! :) Well, take care, and I hope to be back sooner next time.

Love,

Hi Smoochie and Mommy! How's the weather down there? We're finally out of the rain for a few days and the flood waters are slowly going down. Cleanup will be a different story, however!

I sure do wish you felt better, my sweet little friend. I know Mommy does everything she can think of to help you out and that's what Mommys do, isn't it?? I'm glad God picked her to be your Mommy because she certainly does love you very much, as well as Daddy and Tatiana and Sharayah!

I think of you each day and my every prayer is that you'll soon be feeling a whole lot better.

Hi Katia...I'm in Alpne Helen at my pal's giftshop, Wildewood, selling copies of one of my books...I stay in my little motorhome during the weekend, so I get here earlier than anyone...I park it right across the street.

Wish you could have seen the fireworks display the city puts on each 4th of July because it was extra nice this year.

That pool you were in sure looks inviting...is it near your house?

When I lived on Walker's Cay in the Bahamas I often crawled in a hammock like the one you and your mommy were in and took a snooze...back then there was a parrot named Paco who had a cage next to the hammock. I had to bring him a snack (Bananas and apples were his favorite) or he'd squack so loud I couldn't sleep.

I love standing barefooted in grass too...if my grandma saw me she'd always say..."Richard, with those big flat feet of yours you'll shove all of that nice new grass back in the groun

d."...she was kidding...I THINK...maybe not, because I sure have flat feet and they are big.

By the way...did I count six toes on your feet of was that a worm at the end...chuckle.

Hi, Miss Katia! It's been AGES since I've been by. So sorry, but June is always very busy with end-of-school stuff AND my job, so I haven't been able to stop by your site. I'm glad the MRI of your orbits went good. I just wish you weren't feeling bad, and am keeping my fingers crossed that the doctors figure out what's going on. I got tears in my eyes, picturing YOU with tears in your eyes when your Daddy talked and sang in Orlando. What an inspiration you are to me. You always have been, and always will be. I still can't believe I've been following you for about 6 years...! I hope you're having an okay weekend. Please take care. LOVE YA LOTS!! :O)

Hey there Katia, I am sorry that you are feeling so much pain, I pray everyday for you to feel better. I saw your pic in the pool, it looks like you had a good time in the pool, you go girl. How is Fozzy, he is so cute and fluffy. I have 2 dogs ( LiL' Bear and Sadie Mae,) it's a lot of fun to watch and play with them, they are good company for me as I am home alone quite a bit and they let me know if anyone comes by, good thing they do as we had a grizzly bear in our subdivision yesterday. I think it was displaced by the recent fire's.
I wish there were more I could do Katia, I think of you and pray for you every day and everyone who knows me, knows all about the bravest little ladybug in the world, my HERO Katia. I pray that the doctors will be able to find out why you are feeling so bad and that they will figure out how to make you better.

Love and Hugs

Hello solomons,

I hope things keep getting better and that Katia is feeling better ...I am counting down the months till I am allowed to donate blood again.. when I had my hip surgery I had to be transfused and eventhough it was my own blood that I got I can not donate for a year from then..So when Jan rolls around I will be out there donating blood again...Never figured out why when I donated before then donated and received my own blood back that I am not eligible to donate for the year.....

Happy Mother's day! I will be saying prays for Katie and her family! I know first hand what it feel like to have a child with cancer, I lost my 8 year old daughter Kelly Anne on 4/1/08 to Brain cancer (anaplastic empendymoma). Kelly lived by her four "L"s Love like there is no tomorrow, Live each day to the fullest, Laugh each day and offen. and Learn something new each day. So we pray for Katie to over come her cancer and for her family to have strength to help Katie through her battle.

Hi Guys,
I just signed up to be a donor through the marrow donor program. Katia's story was the first one i ever read on caringbridge, she was getting ready to have her transplant the first time i read her story, Before that i had no idea what a BMT was and had no idea how many children were affected by cancer.
Thanks for sharing Katia's story with us. I would have never known about bone marrow transplants had it not been for her story.

Hi, Miss Katia. Another busy week. Now our dog is sick, but appears to be much better than over the weekend. We sure didn't need anything happening to her, given what we all dealt with last week...

Your itching makes me think of our one child, who has excema. Poor thing can't stop itching some days. It's not fun, is it? I hope your new meds are helping, I think of you often! Is Sharayah coming home from college for summer break? Or is she going to go all summer? She is very dedicated to her studies so I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't take a semester off! How is Tatiana doing? I can't wait to see the craft project she is helping you with! Have a good weekend.

I still wear my lady bug bracelet just like yours. It's been on my wrist for quite a few years. I never take it off. I believe I first read about you when you were 2. Time does always go by fast. You are forever in my heart and always in my prayers. Tell Fozzy I say Hi.

Hiya Katia! I am so sorry you have to take that yucky medicine. Sometimes we have to do things we don't like to do in order to make us better. I guess that yucky medicine is one of those things. Big hugs to you, sweetie, and I hope you start to feelin' like the old Katia real soon! Love to your family! :)

Hi, Miss Katia & Family. I just read your update, and have to admit that my mind is in a huge fog right now, so I probably missed half of it, but wanted to know how much you have, and always be, an inspiration to me. You have gone through so much, and when I think about my big brother, who is very, very sick right now, I also think of you, and how strong and brave you've been. You amaze me, Miss Katia! I hope you feel better soon. I'll stop by again soon and read your update again. I'll explain more in the Message Board (which I thank you TONS for!).

Hi Katia

I pray you are feeling better, I think of you every day and of Fozzy too. I like to dress up our latest new refugee Sadie. She is Jack Russell, Maltiese and Westie and Chiwawa sp?. She is growing long but her legs are really short - she is really cute and about the same size as fozzy. How big is Fozzy, Sadie wears a medium in dog clothes, what size would Fozzy wear?. Sadie is about 10lbs and the same color as Fozzy, they sure are great company hey Katia. I know mine make me smile and laugh at the funny things they do.
Well I gotta go take the dogs out, you are always in my prayers.
Love Susan

Hi, Miss Katia! It appears a lot of people sign over at your Message Board...or everyone's busy on Spring Break right now! :) I'm sorry your shoulder and hip are bothering you. I sure hope they both feel better soon.

I also hope that you are able to get your medicine situation taken care of. I know that you know how important they are. You've always been such a trooper, with doctor's visits, hospital stays, tests, medications, etc., etc. You have inspired me in more ways than you'll ever know.

Tracy, you mentioned home videos. Aren't they great??!! After watching AFV tonight our daughter requested to watch some of ours. Sadly, it's been WAY too long since we've taken them out of the closet.

I hope you all have a good week. I'll be thinking about you. Love,

Hi Katia sweetie. I am praying that you are feeling better, how is Fossy doing. I am having a hard time with my new puppy, she only like to come when she feels like it,lol. She is very cute though, I think she and Fozzy would be good friends, hopefully someday we will meet. This is a dream off mine I have had to meet this little Miracle that gave me the courage to believe again and to learn that our God is a loving God, he is not to be feared. I now pray every day and I have had my eyes opened I see the courage, strength, the commitment to life and Gos love to carr us when we are weak.
I had a very distant and violent father, and know I know a loving one.
Thank you Katia and family. Heros to me

"Pink is smart"...and so is Katia!! :) I love the new picture, and I sure hope you had a nice Easter. Ours was spent at home, as one of us had a nasty stomach bug that has been going around. I am SOOOO anxious for spring this year. The song birds have just come back, and when we see ROBINS it's a good sign of things ahead. I just never understand how they find any worms, when the ground is frozen! They really look forward to spring rains, which force those worms up out of the ground a bit!

Tax Day certainly has more meaning for your family, doesn't it? I sure hope Katia's beautiful brown eyes feel better soon.

Hi there girls! I have been a long-time reader of your site, and have left a handful of messages through the years... I just wanted to leave a new one, to let you know the impact YOU have on the world:
Before you, I knew little about cord blood donation. I knew how useful it was, since I have Systemic Lupus (SLE) which is pretty serious, and I believe that stem cells will one day find a cure for me, and many others... but I didn't understand that people actually donated it, and had to do the "leg work" themselves to plan-ahead of their delivery, to choose to donate.
I wanted to tell you though, that because of YOU, and ONLY YOU, my brother and sister-in-law are planning on donating the cord blood from their daughter-to-be, who should make her first appearance in July. She will be their first child, and they knew nothing about the donation process either, until I asked if they would be willing to do so. We're still shocked at how the brand-new-parents have to make all of the arrangements ahead of time- one would think EVERY HOSPITAL would ask the mothers and fathers after the child is born if they would donate (since it's just going to be thrown away anyhow!). It seems like a no brainer for us! But until that day, I hope their small step will help a child, or adult, in need.
Glad Katia is feeling better with each passing day, and her pictures from the fashion show were just adorable!
xoxoxo...

I have followed Katia for years, however I have never signed the guestbook. I have never known what to write. I have never known what to say to a little girl that is stronger than anything I have ever known. Today I have found the words, not my own words, but the words she deserves to hear.. in a website... please take a look at it : www.hasanyonetoldyou.com Katia, you are a beautiful little girl, with more strength and courage than anyone I have encountered in my life. And you have a smile that lights up any dark days. I wish you all the happiness.

When I think I have it bad or if I'm having a tough day I will remember to enjoy the things I have around me and to stop and think about how precious each day is. You ... have opened my eyes to something much bigger than I can describe. You have opened my heart to greater things. I can breathe deeper knowing all things in life are great. All You Need to Know About Life
You Can Learn from a Leprechaun

Life is too short for long faces.
When you’re happy — sing.
When you’re sad —sing louder!
Expect magic to happen, and it will.
If you can’t find a rainbow, paint your own.
The word “impossible” is NOT an Irish word.

Never walk so tall that you can’t see the “wee folk.”
If you’re feeling blue, wear lots of green
and think hopeful thoughts.
No one ever outgrows the need for warm hugs,
special dreams, or a wee bit of mischief.
Quit trying to catch a leprechaun,
and just BE one!

Have a Happy-go-lucky
St. Patrick’s Day!

Good AM Solomons,

I love the new pictures and am praying that Katia is feeling better real soon. I hope the infection clears up very quickly..

Katia,

I'm glad you are feeling better. Your shoes are DA BOMB! They are so shiny and beautiful. Will you be wearing those in the fashion show? I bet you'll be the most beautiful model there. I will continue to keep you and your family in my prayers.
