That's great news that Livvie is doing so much better! We hope you all were able to come home from the hospital last night and that Livvie is continuing to feel much better. Give Olivia a big hug and kiss from all of us. We're looking forward to seeing all of you as soon as you are up to it.

Dear Christine, Eric, and Olivia, I was given an email about Olivia from Tom and Connie Allison. My husband works with Tom and I take care of their lil boy Michael. I just wanted to send my prayers out to you. I have so many of my friends praying for Olivia. I have a 3 year old daughter myself that we almost lost to a virus that attacked her heart when she was just an infant. So family to family, in trying times, please know that you are in our prayers. I work with the Stennis Foundation and met Trish in 2003 when she did the first walk for MLD. This is right after my son passed away due to transplant complications. He was diagnosed with MLD just before his 16th birthday. He moved on to the next place 18 days after his 17 birthday. I am so sorry that Olivia has MLD. Like my son said, "No one should have to go this, especially the little ones." I promised I would help to make a difference and so work with Trish from the Stennis Foundation. I see that you know each other already. Anyway, I just wanted to say Hello to your family and although I am not familiar wth early onset with MLD, I do understand the losses and worry. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. My son also has a website and I will include it. He was an awesome kid....like I am sure your Olivia is.

Hi Christine and Eric! It's Stephanie your old neighbor from PCH. I read your journal entry and thats great news to hear that Olivia is doing good!!!! We got home the day after you left. Brandon is doing good also. He's been sleeping quite a bit though. He has his days and nights mixed up so he sleeps most of the day and is up from about 2am until 6 or so. NOT GOOD FOR ME!! I've had to adjust to sleeping days now, but it's ok he's worth it. He still has his days where he cries but nothing close to how he was in the hospital. The tranxene seems to be helping with that. He is gaining a little bit of his strength..... not much, but hey one day at a time! Anyways just letting you guys know we're thinking about you and still praying for Olivia. The bowling event sounds like it was a huge success! Wish I could have been there. I really wish I could be at all these MLD fundraisers - they are so important.

Please know that we are working diligently to bring an end to MLD....and with all of us working together, it doesn't stand a chance!! The mission statement of The Stennis Foundation is "One Step Closer to a Cure;" the Tomaino Children's support team call themselves the "MLD-stroyers" (shortened version of MLD Destroyers), and the Trimper Children's statement is "Kick MLD in the Butt." I posted this on their sites the other day, but it's just so fitting:

Being the "MLD-stroyers" that we are, we will continue to "Kick MLD in the Butt," and we will be "One Step Closer to a Cure!"

We, too, are looking forward to the Extreme Home Makover show tonight. The "star" of the show, Jhrvye Sears, lives in the same town as us in CA & went into the same exact room after our daughter (& stepdaughter) Emma was released as an outpatient after her umbilical cord stem cell transplant at Duke. Emma is 9 & was diagnosed on 12/30/03 with MLD.

We hope that Olivia's upcoming surgery goes well. You will be in our thoughts. :)
