It has been a blessing to watch the faith of God in action through your lives. Karina's smiling face is such a blessing to other. The joy of the Lord flows from her to others. Someday, I will visit the Ukraine and fullfill part of my destiny in the kingdom because I really believe that "Eyes have not seen nor ears heard the thing God has in store for those that love Him. May you all always be blessed beyond measure for the lives you unknowingly touch.

God is good!! I'm glad you are all home safely and will be praying for Karina to transition smoothly in her new life with such a precious family. Don't forget about my friend from the Ukraine if you need her sometimes. Please be praying for Stefanie as she left yesterday for 3 1/2 months to go to Swaziland (in South Africa). We will see her again on Dec. 21. They will be going to Baton Rouge for a few days to minister there before leaving the country on 9/15. Thank you for your prayers for her!

Cris and Karen,
SOOO happy for you and your great new family. As a mother of an adopted child (who is now in her first year away from home in college - we miss her VERY much) AND someone that knows a lot about Ukraine, and in fact have a Ukrainian family member of my own (my son's wife), I can relate with so many things that you've written. I'm just overjoyed for all of you! I heard from Inna and it sounds like she was able to be with you some during your time in Ukraine.

I am rejoicing with you and answers to prayers! Still hope to meet you some day.

Hello, again, sweet sweet Mahy family....it's late, Sunday, and I'm not sure if you've made it home...trusting you have...as I sat, waiting for your site to come up...the thought occurred to me that this will be the first time Karina will be seeing her new home....duh....and I tried to imagine the look in her eyes...breathtaking....maybe a tiny glimpse into the expression we will all have someday as we step through the gates of Heaven....unimaginable!

Also...really quickly...I was in such a hurry last night...I meant to say I "CAN NOT" imagine how Karina must be feeling...and I trust you understood what my heart was trying to convey about this being a Winter season for her...just that this is a time of renewal...and the end of her life as she has ever known...preparing for a glorious Spring....filled with the fragrance of new love, new joy, and HOPE!!!!

Loving you tonight...I'm sure I'll have sweet dreams...thinking of all of you!

Dreamin' in Jesus!

Hey Sweet Mahy Family! Wanted to respond really quickly...we are sooooo happy for you...words cannot express the joy in our hearts for you! We will be praying for this transition time....as I can imagine the bitter-sweet emotions Karina must be feeling....I pray that she will be able to recieve the love and comfort that her heart needs from her new family...and that she will continue to grow in the Grace and Knowledge of her Heavenly Father...Who loves her endlessly....as you minister His Love to her through this changing "winter" season of her life...I pray that spring will come early!

We love you all...so much...your family portrait is complete!

Walking with you through eternity,

Karina,
Kristen says "I love you." Catherine says "I really do love you, Karina". Catherine and Kristen were amazed in their four year old minds that Karina had never had a Happy Meal before. They think she needs to go to Chic-fil-A and Chuck E. Cheese and Wendy's and Chili's too. They want to go with her and show her what to order and color at the table. Kristen says "God bless you, Karina". We love you and can't wait to see you.

As I write, you are sleeping....probably so filled with anticipation about what the morning holds...knowing only one True thing...comforted only by the Hope that He is your Abba, He is in control, and He is able....by the time you read this, you will probably have had your time in court...only He knows the outcome...but God showed me this verse this morning, perhaps for the first time...and I knew I must share it with you...it's concerning His will....what is "His will"? Seemingly unable to be known....the thought of "His will" is overwhelming to me....to know His attitude and purpose...is it possible? Well, I believe, as you have experienced, and as God is patiently teaching me...YES! In fact, it is something that we can pray to know....something that we MUST pray to know....these verses are so rich...Colossians 1:9-12....
v9....since the day we heard of it [your faith in Christ Jesus and the love you have for all the saints], we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
WOW! Paul asked for the Colossians to "be filled with the knowledge of His will"...SO THAT....they would be strengthened.....I know hind sight is always "20-20"...but didn't things seem so much more bearable, knowing that Natasha was meant to be reunited with Karina? I just know, that as God revealed a glimpse of the mystery that this journey has been, that you felt strengthened....so now, sweet friends, be strengthened even more, on this day, as you rest in the knowledge that you are being lifted up, by brothers and sisters who are asking for God to fill you with the knowledge of His will...so that you can walk worthy, to please Him, and be strengthened WITH ALL POWER, ACCORDING TO HIS GLORIOUS MIGHT! You are qualified! He has qualified you to share in the inheritance of all the saints in Light! Shine on brother and sister...light up the Ukraine!!!!

Walking with you through eternity!

"For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strenghthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him." II Chron. 16:9. This verse was read in Sunday school yesterday and I wanted to share it with you. I believe He continues to give you strength as you wait on His timing because you have fully committed hearts to the Lord. I have asked many people to be praying about the court proceedings tomorrow. May you continue to experience miracle after miracle--God is so good! I look forward to seeing your next entry. Love in Him, janet b.

Karen and Cris, I am sending this note with a quote from Beth Moore to encourage you in your walk of faith. She states, "Because God created us to find great pleasure in us and our faith is what pleases Him most, He relentlessly forces the faith issue." The one and only true God loves you both and I know He is smiling with pleasure at your faithfulness! We will be praying for a miracle tomorrow at court. Psalm 77:14 says, "You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples." In Christ's love, Jill, Jimbo, Jesse and Ella

Cris and Karen - Praise the Lord you have your court date! I'm sorry you have to wait another week but from personal experience, nothing gets done in any timely or organized manner in Ukraine. I will certainly remember you in my prayers on the 26th - I leave for Ukraine the next day so I'll be doing a lot of praying about that also. I'm still hoping for a way to see you and your new daughter while I'm in Ukraine!
It must have been a little (or lot?) difficult to have Inna leave you today - you've been through so much together.
Just know that you're in my prayers daily.

Hello Mahys...
We are here in Kiev right now. We have to wait unitl the 26th for Peter to be released from the "database"...this pushes us to our limits, as Cathy is in her 8th month of pregnancy. The waiting is excruciating...and we often talk of you and the endurance you have had to have. We don't know how you have done it, except for the grace of GOD. We are praying for you every day. We will be at our apartment through July 25th. Please call if you are back in Kiev during that time. ( (830-44-) 278-5705 ) We love you guys and know that GOD has a purpose for this time. Many prayers going out for you...
Love,

We are continuing to pray for you and the obstacles that your family is facing. Do not be discouraged. We had a message Wednesday at church about overcoming hardships and trials. We talked about Responding instead of Reacting. There is such a difference. Just try and respond in a way that the Lord leads you and not only reacting to the things that seem discouraging. God knows such a larger picture. I have to remind myself of that everyday. We are only dealing with a small amount of information. His will will be done. We love you and are praying for peace and encouragement. We would love to send a letter to Karina. How do we do so? We are consistent in our prayers for you.The Browns

Howdy Cris, Karen and Karina,

May God cover you with His grace and understanding. I cannot even begin to understand what you are going through, what the boys are going through during this adoption processes.

We’ve just gotten home from CA seeing Devera and the boys in concert. Nathan and Jordan did the final number together, Nathan sang and Jordan did a rap, it was FANTASTIC, by far my favorite song of the program! They both looked great, and Devera had an incredible time!! You would have been so proud of your beautiful sons, I know that I was, and Devera wasn’t so bad either! I see another two sweet girls singing with the Young Cons in a year or two, right!! I will try to send a picture of the boys and Devera together for Karina, there is one picture where Devera is right between the two boys during their last song, it is beautiful.

I have been praying that God will give you peace to do what you must do, however long it takes, and I know that He has your entire family cradled in His arms! Love you all very much!

I am so sorry everything is moving so slow. Jordan and I have been praying very hard that everything would work out. So stay strong, keep your eyes open for what God has in store and He will work everything out just like He has already done in so many ways. We love you and look forward to talking to you soon. Karina, Looks like you are having a lot of fun with Mom and Dad, can't wait till Jordan and I get to play with you. We Love you! Your Sons and Brother's

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face...”. How we have seen this example in your life time and time again. What a privilege it has been to travel this road with you, in a very limited way, and what a blessing it has been to see how incredibly God has worked in Karina’s life, to allow her to make such a difficult decision with such grace and wisdom is amazing, actually I think it is an example of another miracle that God has given throughout this journey. Give our little girl hugs from her new family in America. Someday she will be amazed at how many have loved her from a distance, and lifted her and you in prayer. We love you all so very much!!

Cris and Karen,
We heard of your story from Craig and Barbara this past week and have been praying fervently for Karina...We had the privilege of adopting Marina, our 11 year old daughter, from Russia a year and a half ago. We understand what you are going through and are praying that God will impart a supernatural understanding for Karina to make a bold and courageous decision that will change the course of her life forever. We look forward to hearing some great news in just a few short hours!

I don't know if you remember me, but we met the very first day you were at the NAC. I was with the Ruwe family. I just wanted to let you know that I have been following your jounal and praying for you each step of the way. I will continue to pray for Karina and her decision and for both of you. I am sure that such a long trip has been difficult. May God give you strength to see this through to the finish. And may he give you joy as you hope in Him!

Karen and Cris, you both bless me with your faithfulness and belief in the Lord. I have been reading in Romans 4 about God calling Abraham righteous because of his belief. God is richly blessing your family, including Karina, because of your faithfulness. God is the giver of all good things!! Karina will learn that promise (and song in chapel) very soon. I hope that you both had a wonderful day with Karina today. Last night after Devera called, about 12:45 a.m. our time, I couldn’t sleep so I prayed for you, Karina and our kids on tour. My prayers kept coming back to you, asking our precious Lord to watch over all three of you, and the officials who make the decisions regarding Karina, along with your room, board and travel situation. Such a peace came over me, and I know beyond any doubt that God is right there with you and everyone involved. The family can’t wait to see this beautiful girl and Derriann is beside herself with excitement!!

Devera and half the tour have bad colds, but she said they are having a wonderful time. The pastor of the church in Eugene called to let me know that the kids received the goodie box I sent. He was an original Continental from Portland. It was fascinating talking with him and he was really looking forward to seeing the concert. Dad and Aunt Joan went to Eugene, with Mom, Claudia and Courtney going to Chehalis, WA tonight to see them. Mom is taking Nona Amelia’s Pizza, how jealous am I?!! She is taking so many goodies and can’t wait to see them all. They will be well taken care of for the next couple of days.

Had wonderful calls from both Mom and Barbara (of the anxious aunts’ club), having a fantastic time talking about you, Karina and how mightily God is working through your lives, and has lead each step you’ve taken. I know this is long, but wanted to let you know all is well with the US-Montana part of the family!! Love you and miss you all very much! Barb will send updates to our family email!!

What beautiful insight you have re Karina leaving the only life she has known. Although Gunja could have been brought to me, I knew it would be extremely valuable to both of us and for her adjustment for me to live in her city for a week -- to see the way she lived, to know the climate and the smells and the sights she had experienced everyday, and to meet the people who had cared for her. As difficult as that trip was, I will always cherish that experience. It helped me to understand her needs at a time when we were still learning to communicate with words. We continue to pray for all of you, and that God will give you great wisdom and peace of mind. Even when He directs you specifically to take a step, the road can still be rocky at moments, but well worth the trip. We love you guys and are hungry everyday to know what God is doing in your lives! Melissa, Gunja, and Kati Lin

That is awesome that you are going to Dnipropetrovsk again! See, God has something special planned for you guys there!!!! He had you meet Anita and Roland for a reason. They are in the US right now. But, I'm sure you know how to get in touch with them, right? We swam in "Blue Lakes" which was the cleanest lake in Ukraine - it was great! Make sure you go to Bartholomeo's with Anita and Roland or have Sergei take you there - its a great getaway!!!!! I know another missionary family in Dnipro if you want their names!!!!

Hi Cris & Karen,

Good morning from Montana (at least it’s morning here). I figure that we are nine hours behind you, so you are either still at your appointment, or finished and know the direction that God would have you go. My prayer for you last night was that God’s voice to you would be strong and clear as you had your meeting at the NAC.

Talked with Nathan yesterday, the kids did O.K. on their first night, but Devera said last night was a bit of a disaster, with Nathan and Jordan looking a little disappointed with the program. Devera kept hitting those around her, and they kept hitting her, with a mic almost hitting her in the heard. It was good she could laugh about it, but I know that she and the tour hate to disappoint their precious director and assistant director! Both Nathan and Devera sounded positive about their program, and I know that they are having a wonderful time!

Can’t wait to hear from you again (I will keep checking back), and know that my love and prayers are on wings to you and our heavenly Father (HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!). Love you both so much!

Hello, my name is Yuliya. I am a friend of Janet Brunson. I am from Kiev, Ukraine but 1 year ago married a blessed Alabama boy Tim Keener and moved here. My family is still in Kiev. In the past few years 7 or 8 families from the USA stayed at our appartment in Kiev while adoption process. I saw them experiencing many difficulties. But they trusted the Lord and every time they received a child- they knew that particular child that they finally adopted was from the Lord. So, I encourage you to be strong in the Lord and sensative to Holly Spirit. I saw that sometimes families adopted not the same child that they planned. For example one couple wanted children under 3 years old, but they got 6 and 7 years old children. I also saw that sometimes families addopted seek children or disable. But every time children were very happy and parents were satisfied because they knew it was from God.
God is with you!
Maybe one day after you return I will be able to meet you. Our tel is 256-570-0678 Our young married home group from Crosspoint is praying for you. Much love, Yuliya Keener (maiden Aleksyeyeva)

Hi Karen and Cris, I just wanted to send you guys a quick note to let you know that we are praying for you. During our adoption of Jonathan, God placed two scriptures on my heart and I would like to share them with you. Jeremiah 33:3 — Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. And Micah 7:7 — Therefore I will look to the Lord: I will wait for the God of my Salvation; my God will hear me.

We just pray that God will guide and direct you and that you will have a peace and just know. We are also praying for continued safety on your trip and we look forward to reading the final chapter. Love in Christ.

Sweet friends...I seem to be at a loss for words...(miracles never cease!) :) but our Jesus ALWAYS knows exactly what to say....take courage and find peace in the knowledge that He is sitting right beside our Father...asking Him for EXACTLY what you need!
We love you sooooo much...and continue to be inspired by this amazing act of obedience....I am reminded of a song...(surprise)...

"If He says, "go"...
we will go...
if He says, "wait"...
we will wait...
if He says, "step out on the water",
He will not remove His hand...
we'll fix our eyes on You
and we will go!"

We are praying with you...for peace and direction...He will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go...and He will lead you there!
Walking with you through eternity!

We are continuing to pray for you. GOD is so good, and He has said in HIS word: "The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord...Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established." Proverbs 16:1,3
Keep on trusting and keep on seeking HIM. Being in the center of HIS will is the safest place to be, and often times HIS ways are not our ways. We trust with you, that HE will show you the way and give direction in this whole adventure. We love you and have you in our hearts...

Dear Cris and Karen,
This is the first chance I've had to read your updates about your time in the Ukraine because our computer has been covered with boxes in the midst of all this remodeling going on here! We have been praying for ya'll consistently and can't wait to meet your new little ones that God is providing. I was just thinking today how often things must first be torn down before the Lord can rebuild. The tearing down isn't always fun...but necessary in order for our availability to receive the rebuilding God so anxiously wants to do. And we know that unless the Lord builds the house the labor is in vain... I believe the Lord is rebuilding your home...one step at a time. Perhaps it may seem as if there is more tearing down than building right now...but hang on... the finished product will be "exceedingly abundantly above all you could EVER ask or think!" We are continuing in prayer for you!!! Love, Taylor and Jenny Gallman, Andrea & Nathan

Still praying--especially these last two days. You may feel you're in the dark--wishing God would shed a little light on what's happening, but know He is the light and He's right in your midst leading each step. Just rest in Him and let Him guide each moment. Try to step back from all the details you are having to deal with and see if God doesn't give some revelation. It's in that restful state that you can hear, see, and experience God. That's my prayer for you right now. Thank Him for even those things He's doing that you can't see evidence of at this time. I'll keep praying for your family daily. Love you, Irene

I stopped into Rivertown CoffeeHouse and was sharing with Mr. McDaniel and asked how things were with your adoption process. He told me about this webpage and I wanted to let you know we will be praying for you. Remember Trixie, Anna Rose's first puppy that had parvo and was healed during her first grade year with you? That was the first step of faith for Anna Rose and we know our God who cares about sparrows and puppies, has your needs in the palm of His hand. We wait with you as His plan unfolds. I wanted to let you know that Anna Rose completed a paper about the four people who have had the greatest impact on her life and "Mrs. Mahy" was on that list. I found the paper this week while helping her clean out her room and said a prayer of thanksgiving for you. God continues to bless both of the girls as they have stepped out to be lights in the public school. Thanks for all you invested in the lives of our children. We pray with earnestness for you as you "live out loud" God's love where He has placed you. Love, The Kelsoes

We met today at the NAC and then again at the internet cafe, our paths crossing did not happen by accident. We will be praying for you during your days here in Ukraine especially about your meeting with the NAC directors and officials. You are correct in having patience and showing kindness to the people here and their culture. For a country that is ten years old (since their independence) they have come a long way and do things remarkably well considering where they have come from. We wish you all the best in your journey here, God Bless.

Wow! Today is the first day that I've been able to "catch up". The last time I read your updates, you had just found out the "original three" were possibly yours. What a journey! I just want you to know that Clark and I are praying and believing for God's PERFECT will! Remember, to get from the mountain of promise to the mountain of provision, you must walk through the valley of faith. Keep trusting! Your friends, Clark and Cindy

Dear Cris and Karen,

God is in control and everything will be as He planned. I don’t know why you went through what you have, but God does. For some reason God has brought you into those four kids lives so no matter what happens please continue to pray for God’s protection and guidance in their lives, I don’t think that your involvement with these kids is finished, even if you are just to continue to pray for them, I know that I will. I sent an email to Cris’s address on Saturday, and know that it is still relevant, even if it has not gone as I and I know you had hoped. Still no matter what happens God will accomplish what He intends, and all of this has not been in vain. You both have been such an inspiration for me in so many different ways and I am so proud of you and the difficult decisions that you have made. I pray every day for God’s protection and guidance in your lives. I love you both so much!!

Cris & Karen,
God's hand is on you, the boys and those three beautiful children and I know that HE IS IN CONTROL!! I love you and think of you often during the day, wondering what experiences you are going through and how you are doing. Cris I would someday love to hear you preach, how awesome is that?!!! The girls, Steve and I continue to lift you, the boys, Bogdan, Raya and Ksyenya up to the Lord. One of my favorite verses is the one you have posted at the top of the journal “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13. God will honor your faithfulness even when you wait, are frustrated, tired and discouraged. You have faced all these things, and you have faced them in the strength of the Lord, and He is with you. I am so proud of you and love our God so much for using you to minister to so many. He is carrying you now my brother and sister!!! I LOVE YOU!

Just to let you know that we are praying for you and the children. God is truly an AWESOME God! Isn't it great to know that your Father has gone ahead and prepared the way for you!! This is absolutely going to be a incredible testimony. I shared with you earlier our experience concerning Sarah... all odds were against us, everywhere we turned there was a wall(in the flesh),but in the Spirit realm the angels were rejoicing !! Sarah would be OURS !! Well listen up Mahy's... the angels are rejoicing! We can't wait to see your precious gifts from God.

Hey my dearest Cris, Karen, Nathan and Jordan,

WOW, I wish so much that I were a fly on the wall to see the miracles of God unfold in your life. Your faithfulness will be blessed, I know that it will. My heart hurt for you after reading what Karen wrote on Wednesday, but even through that hurt I knew that God was in control, and something incredible was going to happen because of your faithfulness and witness to so many!! Craig called last night and we both know that God is doing something mighty in and through you. I love you all so much and can’t wait until God’s plan for you in the Ukraine unfolds completely!! Steve, the girls and I are praying for you constantly. I went to bed last night praying, woke up in the middle of the night praying, and got up praying. I’m still praying…how incredibly good is our God!! Keep safe! Boys my prayers are with you as you come home (Devera can’t wait to see you, but don’t think Deyja will have enough raised to make it this year). I know that you are all in God’s hands. Love always!

Sweet Family...after reading today's entry, the first instinct is to feel pity...God, however, is not a God of pity...He does tell us to weep with those who weep and to mourn with those who mourn....We will weep with you, for now...but, Oh Precious Ones...hold on...We KNOW, JOY will come in the morning! God is STILL the same God He was on Monday...and He is still a God of intricate detail...nothing escapes Him or has gotten by Him.
I KNOW you KNOW all these things...hang on to the Truth you have been given...hold on to the Faith that took you on this journey from the beginning....and hold on dearly to The Hand that is holding on dearly to you!
We are praying for you...God has raised up an army to pray for you...and He is still waking warriors up to stand in the gap on your behalf! Can't you just see that enormous shield covering you? Praise our Victorious Redeemer!
Holding up a shield for you....the Bost's

Hey Cris, Karen, Nathan, Jordan and you sweet children three!
I just need to shout out with you...Praise the Lord Jesus Christ! He reigns and He is sooooo faithful! I have to tell ya, my appointment to pray for you all has come at 4:18AM and 4:05AM for the past two mornings....it's l2 lunchtime there...so I was thinkin', maybe it's just to pray that ya don't eat too much of that delicious Ukranian Cooking at the buffet!! :) Seriously...it has been a total honor to wake up and be reminded by our Sweet Lord to lift your names to Him....and this morning, to Praise Him for His sovreignty, and His faithfulness!
I talked to Kathy last night...she filled me in before I could find your website....anyway, when I was sharing the story with Jeff, it hit me...."This is the stuff FAITH is made of!"...you did not have to go. I mean, you were given the news that your children were in Spain, somewhere, and that they weren't available to you. And I thought...how many times have we, in our lives, come up against opposition, only to respond, "Well, it must not be God's Will, He has closed that door."
But not you...Cris and Karen...you KNEW the Lord told you those sweet babies were yours, and you believed Him enough to go! It frightens me to think how many times we have missed it because we let our "own understanding" get in our way. Jeff and I wondered at the whole situation, and the Truth the Lord brought to us is this...He said, "When I speak to you, be sure you are really listening....with your heart, mind, and soul....trust me with your whole heart and don't depend on your own understanding...listen for me and hear me, because I don't change My mind, and My plans for You are unimaginable."

I'm glad to see that all is well. I tried getting through to Oksana today twice, but she couldn't hear me at all, for some reason. I will try again tomorrow after you've had time for your appointment.

I just wanted to let you both know that I am praying for your family during this exciting time. I have always wondered about the adoption process, and this interests me. I believe this is a very good thing that your family is doing and must be totally from God. I hope that one day I will be able to help a child in need just as your family is doing now. Congratulations, good luck and much love.

To Cris and Karen..

Just as a reminder, you and the boys are in my prayers during this portion in your lives. As we have discussed in the past, God has His hand on your lives and it goes without saying, this step in your lives brings us even closer together than before. Not only are we adoptive parents, but we are adopted children of God, therefore, we are joint heirs in the Kingdom. As God has shown the way He adopted us into the Kingdom as His children, we now join together with those we adopt to further enhance that kinship. So remember, they may be our children on Earth, but they are also our brothers and sisters in the Kingdom as well. I love you guys, and thank God for the bond we share. Our prayers are with you as angels of protection guard and keep you safe. I pray legions of angels to clear the way for a safe and memorable journey. God speed on your journey..........
