Hope everyone is doing well.

We are praising God for JoJo feeling great and regaining some of her independence. She has been enjoying sunny warms days on her patio and trips over to visit her grandkids.

Yesterday, JoJo had her first target treatment. The 90 minute infusion was a much welcomed changed from the previous 5+ hour infusion. This therapy should have not have any side effects.

A little more information regarding this targeted treatment...the gene mutation of JoJo's cancer is a breast cancer that is in the lung. They don't have as much information as to how and why this type of mutation occurs in the lung and its response to treatment. The Doctors have stated that this is not a treatment that will most likey beat the cancer but will hopefully maintain and to help JoJo to experience a better quality of life. Of course, you know what we are praying for...

First of all, I hope and pray that this finds you and your family well.

Second of all, I sincerely apologize for the lack of updates on how JoJo has been doing. We have been limiting her contact, and have relied heavily on Mike and Abbey to take care of JoJo, as we are home in Illinois and Brett's wife, Linzy, is a nurse who has been on the front line caring for Covid patients (prayers for her as well). We are so thankful for Abbey and Mike's loving care of JoJo. She had been pushing through her treatments and doing as okay as expected until April 21st when she developed another infection and pneumonia and she had to be hospitalized. Thankfully, her body responded quickly and she received wonderful care by the Doctors and nurses. She was able to go home a few days later.

Looking forward, as this is second similar reaction it sounded like she would not have another treatment of this type chemo, but would move to the targeted therapy instead. The targeted therapy is a treatment they will use because her cancer is one of six gene mutations they have targeted. It sounds like there will not be any side effects like chemo, so that is good news. JoJo has a call with her Doctor on Friday to confirm this or see what the plan is and could possibly start on Monday. I will post any new information after that conversation.

Thank you.

We got some encouraging news today at JoJo’s doctors appointment. Her latest scan showed no new cancer. Praise God!

We also finally received the information from the gene mutation testing and it is one of the 6 types of mutations. So after 1 or 2 more chemo treatments they can start the targeted treatments.

Jo will have her 3rd chemo treatment tomorrow.

Thanks for everyone’s continued love, support and prayers!

Hi Friends,

Thank you all for your comments and well wishes. I do want you to know that even though we are not relying to your comments we always pass along your messages to Joanne.

She is still recovering and asks for prayers for enough recovery time between chemo treatments.

Love, the Marsolais Family

Joanne is still recovering from her treatment. She felt pretty good until Friday night when she just started to feel zapped of energy. Yesterday and today she’s starting to gain a little more energy each day.

February 20, 2020

Jo has her chemo treatment yesterday. Today Jo woke up feeling good and has been super active.

The Dr. also said her oxygen level was looking better. She is still on oxygen but the Dr. said she can play around with lowering the level and see how she feels.

We haven’t heard back about the targeted treatments, but we will keep you posted as soon as we know.

Today is JoJo’s birthday 🎂 🎈Let’s show her some love!

Please also be thinking about her as she prepares for her next chemo treatment tomorrow. She had her blood drawn on Monday to check all her levels in preparation for tomorrow. We haven’t heard anything so we are planning on chemo tomorrow. Joanne asks for prayers specifically to help her recover from the treatment and gain her energy back quickly.

She is feeling good and has continued to regain her strength.

JoJo is getting stronger everyday. It has been so good for her to be home, she’s getting up and moving around to take care of her everyday chores.

Her kids have been taking such great care of her making sure she has everything she needs to be comfortable and regain her strength and health. Thank you to the many friends who have offered help and kind words of support and encouragement.

We haven’t heard anything official from the Doctors but JoJo is feeling strong enough to do her chemo treatment on Wednesday as originally scheduled. We will keep you posted!

February 12, 2020

I am so happy to share that JoJo was able to go home today. We are so happy she is in the comfort of her own home again-and she is too!

Although this is wonderful news and we are so happy, it is with a heavy heart that we visibly see that the cancer, chemo treatments and these recent illnesses have taken their toll on her. She is going home on oxygen and is struggling to do things that a few weeks ago were part of her everyday life and routine, which at least for now will mean a higher level of care and a loss of some of her independence-which is a hard thing to grasp for all of us.

We hope she continues to heal and gets stronger.

We
believe in a God who heals and we believe in a God who is more than capable of the impossible and of doing miracles and we are praying for that everyday.
