Wain had a successful kidney transplant February 26, 2008. His incredible niece Yai gave him life through the amazing gift of one of her kidneys. One month after this transplant Wain learned he has developed liver cancer. He has been told a liver transplant is his best option. He is in the process of prepaing for this next step in his journey towards a healthy life!
Wain wants to let everyone know he is doing very well. His new kidney works wonderfully and he is feeling great. The liver cancer remains a very real issue, but all has been stable. Wain is now on the transplant list. He has been told to expect a 6-9 month time before anything happens with that. Once he gets higher on the list he will be given a pager and will need to be ready to get to Rochester in about 6 hours or less if a liver becomes available. He is back in Mpls now and goes to Rochester about once a month for monitoring . He is managing to keep busy and remains upbeat and positive. It is making him crazy that he can't work in his garden like he wants to, so if anyone feels like hanging out with him and doing a bit of gardening give him a call!!! Will keep updates as things come up. Enjoy the summer!
