I have to say that it feels a little odd, but good, to only be writing about special events, and nothing medical. The reality is that brain tumours are the #1 cause of death by cancer in children under 20. It's Brain Tumour Awareness Month. The researchers need funding! I have many bereaved friends; they've lost their children to cancer. I just can't imagine their loss. I miss my dear friend Helene so much (she passed away in June); how much more do parents miss their children? b.r.a.i.n.child (www.sickkids.ca/brainchild) funds paediatric brain tumour research. SickKids has the only facility in Canada dedicated to this specialized area of research. Check out Tobin's tour of the Arthur and Sonia Labatt Brain Tumour Research Centre on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdmro6p2w9A. Sports Update: Tobin absolutely LOVES hockey! His team has one more exhibition game, and then the teams will be finalized. He is really hoping to make the team. He knows that since he hasn't played before he might have to move down a level or go to Hockey School. We've been going skating twice a week, and he's working very hard on his skills. And now for this week's special event...on Friday night the kids will be part of the tunnel that the Toronto Argonauts run through as they enter the field. That should be fun! (We'll be cheering for the Argos, as a defeat for the BC Lions is good for the Stampeders!) Enjoy today, and thanks for praying for Tobin. Karen
