January 4, 2008 Gary was diagnosed with an Adenocarcinoma of the esphogus. He had a CT & PET scan on 1/16. They revealed he has a 9 cm tumor near the opening to the stomach. One lymph gland in the immediate area also seems to have a 1.3 cm tumor.
Gary is having more trouble breathing. This morning he had both the nasal canula and the mask on yet couldn't catch his breath. It took almost half an hour before he could breathe.
God is GOOOD! There aren't any facilities that can accommodate Gary's oxygen need, so we are staying put, for now. Good thing we have the presidential suite!
It looks like Renee will be able to stay longer, she went to the Ventura recruiting station to see if she could get a compassionate attachment. Her commander said she had to be back Monday, he couldn't approve anymore leave. She is waiting for the forms to pass through channels, but all involved are on board.
The oncologist came by again. She said the only treatment she would do would be chemo. She also said it would probably extend his life for 2 weeks to a month and it might not be worth the dealing with the side effects. ~ Debi
