I was diagnosed with two types of childhood leukemia on October 26, 2006. I am in remission after a bone marrow transplant in March of 2007. I am awaiting a double hip replacement sometime this summer. The steroids did a number on my bones. I am looking forward to the day when I can walk again without feeling any pain.

Hello Team Austin,

I have been trying to lay off...hoping Austin could muster the energy to update, so you could all get it first hand from the A-man, but his little hips have been sooooo tired the last few days.....and if you can believe this one....my little night owl is already asleep for the night at 8:30pm!!!!!! This is not so typical for A, but as his new routine is coming into place, this may be the new norm...well at least on the week nights.

OK...so Austin did really well yesterday. G-ma Suz came over before school and we both drove him for his 1st day with 2 of his buddies. We got at SJ early and helped him with his walker, got him to where he needed to be, dropped off the wheel chair in the office... and then....it was let go time. CRAZY Suz and I shared some tears in the car on the way home.....lots of emotions as we reflected on the last 2 years....not to mention my 1st son heading to high school.

Picked Austin up yesterday and all he could say is what a GREAT time he had at school and was overwhelmed by all of the students that gave him a ''Hey Austin'' or ''what's up A-man'' etc in the hallways. He LOVED that. He's sooo happy to be BACK!!!

Dropped Austin off this morning with Patrick Klima...who was so gracious to help with the walker. Just about killed me to just 'drop' them off and 'drive away' Another emotional day for the mommy lady. Austin would be rolling his eyes at me right now if he was reading this as he has been so longing for his independence. LOL In time baz in time.

Today was not as smooth..... as one of his classmates accidentally bumped him in a hip...sending him to the nurse today. Gosh DARN IT, knew this was inevitable, but not expecting on the second day. Chris, the most awesome nurse at SJ, checked him out for injury and before you know it, his hips were waking to next class. He has wanted to take his walker to school as opposed to the wheel chair...and it has done wonders for his PT which is still coming to the house 2 days a week.

Austin is ready to rock and roll tomorrow, his first full day. Not bumping in to anyone...leaving each class a little earlier to avoid the 'hallway rush'.

He is moving around a little faster every day with his walker and especially fast when he is dropped off at school and has an opportunity to free from his mother!!!! LOLOLOL!!!!

Wish A-man an easier day tomorrow....his first FULL day!!!!

Too tired right now but will post new pictures in the morning!!

Love and God Bless to all of Team Austin
Baz
