Well, we are in the hospital in Belgium. Our flight was pretty uneventful aside from taking pictures with Goldie Hawn at LAX. The town which the hospital is located is right out of a movie. It's the quintessential European small town with lots of cafes and and of course chocolate stores. We have been hospitalized since Tuesday morning. Alexa had surgery today for her catheter placement. Whenever Alexa gets anesthesia (which unfortunately is quite often) she always administers it herself. Well, she made history in Belgium as the first person to administer their own anesthesia. She is pain right now because of where the catheter is placed (in her groin area of her leg). They will use the catheter tomorrow to take out her stem cells, called leukopheresis. She will be hooked up to a machine for about four hours while it segregates the white cells from the rest of the blood, and then returns the blood back to her body. After that, the catheter is taken out and we get to leave the hospital until the vaccine is ready to be injected.
The Belgium people have been quite nice; although not everybody speaks English. Everybody has been quite helpful here.
Thanks for checking in, and we'll update again soon.

p.s. The new pic was taken after surgery today (and after pain meds too!)
