I'm so sorry I haven't been visiting Nicholas' site as much as I should. I have been going through some stuff (but nothing compared to what you and Nicholas are going through) and I just haven't felt up to the things I used to do. I am feeling better though and I am back :) I will try and be much better about checking in!

I'm so sorry to hear that Nicholas is having to get two transfusions a week now and that he feels his medications aren't working :( Also your letter made me want to cry Donna. Sweetie I wish I had the right words to say to take the pain away. I feel so stupid for words escaping me; they all seem too small to fit what I want to say or the situation. Please just know that our family is praying for you. We've never stopped praying daily for Nicholas, even when I wasn't checking in you guys were in our thoughts. If I can help or just be a shoulder to cry on please do not hesitate to contact me sweetie.

Donna, So sorry about the carpel tunnel surgery on your arm and cast, too! We Moms are never suppose to get sick! When we do it never seems that it is a good time or that there is anyone who can "fill our shoes"!
Heavenly Father, Physician of our souls and. bodies, who have sent Your only begotten Son and our Lord Jesus Christ to heal every sickness and infirmity, visit and heal us. The passage is long today (could have been worse...the psalm is 22 verses long but didn't want to overwhelm you) but oh what words of comfort! Praying so that the Lord uses them to touch your heart!

I've never had to try different fingers to find blood, but I've had as many as three separate sticks in my left arm to give platelets. They've either got my veins mapped out better now or else they left pins in there to hold them in place, because we have better luck now. I hate to think that blood or platelets would not have been available when Mamie needed them.

I'd like to remind your readers that you can give platelets every two weeks and still give blood.

Boy can I relate to that issue. I just got discharged after a semi-long stay and had to get AB platelets one night. Needless to say, despite all the benadryl in the world, I watched that bag finish and prayed the entire time for no reactions. I continue to pray for you. I hope you don't think I've forgotten you since I don't sign in much. The truth is I've just been crazy with trying to catch up from my summer adventure at Duke and balance all the stuff from work this school year in between outpatient and inpatient visits to Duke. My prayers are with you all.I too have a 8 yr old little boy who was diagnosed with cancer by Dr.K in Johnson City.He was med flighted to Memphis where luckily they could treat him so we stayed for 7 months.He still sees Dr.K for checkups.We've done MANY transfusions so I can relate to what you are going through.I am o positive and will contact the hospital first thing in the morning. Well Nicholas you and DJ would make a good pair. When we ask him why he has such a hard time doing his homework or taking a shower...He tells us because I have to do it over and over and over again. Guess what I tell him....He eats over and over again to be strong so the homework makes him smarter!!! Soon he will be teaching me how to do math...Ha! Ha!! Kayla made high honors again. She had 3 100% and 3 96% and 1 99%. She is showing the other kids up!! She always does her homework! I know that you can do it too!! Spencer has his share I am sure!! I haven't forgotten to remind the kids about what you are planning the next time you see them!! Ha! Ha! They better watch out hadn't they!

I hope this finds you feeling better today! I like that you love to read1! I used to be a teacher's aide for reading and really push that subject. My stepson doesn't like it, but he has to read at least 30 minutes a night, and that's after he's done homework, and before his baskeball practice/games. I am a mean stepmommy!! (so he says).
