Cassandra's status continues to be NED. She started middle school at the Accompset Middle School this September. Her brother, John, started kindergarten this year.

She enjoys and does great in school despite a hearing loss and what now appears to be chemo related damage to her optic nerves.

Other than the hearing and eyesight issues, Cassandra continues to do well. This November will be an amazing TEN years ago that we left Stony Brook Hospital after her second stem cell rescue; never to return to the hospital again. God is amazing and his healing powers are awesome.

To everyone visiting this site, I sincerely pray that you will find peace and hope in Cassandra's story.

Blessings,

A new journal entry to let you know that all continues to go well for Cassandra. She is a happy, bright, healthy third grader and wonderful big sister to her now 2 1/2 year old brother.

We continue to monitor Cassandra's health on an annual basis and are most grateful that she is doing so well and are in awe of God's amazing healing powers.

Surprise..........a new journal entry and it has not even been a year since the last one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might have noticed that Cassandra's website has "gone green". That is in honor of St. Baldrick's Day. On St. Baldrick's Day, people from all over the country join in, have their heads shaved and raise funds for childhood cancer. Our business, Steinle & Steinle CPA's is a corporate sponsor of the event in Smithtown, NY. In addition, Cassandra's father, John, is having his head shaved !!!!!!! Please consider making a tax deductible donation to the St. Baldrick's foundation by sponsoring John to shave his head. To make a donation and or learn more about St. Baldrick's, follow the link at the bottom of this page and click on "Make a Donation in John's Name" or call 888-899-BALD to donate by phone. Donations made out to St.Baldrick's can also be given to us for forwarding.

Cassandra, as before, continues to do well. She remains disease free. Her tumor was removed FIVE years ago in September and she has been cancer free for over FIVE years now. Cassandra underwent a battery of tests and scans in November and December and her disease free status was joyfully confirmed.

Cassandra continues to enjoy her little brother, who is now eight months old as well as our other new additon; Spug the Pug.

Once again, it has been over a year since this journal was updated.

Cassandra continues to do well. She remains disease free. Her tumor was removed FIVE years ago in September and she has been cancer free for FIVE years now. She no longer wears her hearing aids as her loss was mild to moderate and she has been able to "fill in the blanks".

On July 6, 2004, Cassandra's baby brother, John IV, joined our family. You can see his photo on the picture page. Cassandra is having fun with him and is a very loving and caring big sister.

Please continue to keep Cassandra and our family in your prayers. Cassandra is living proof of the power of prayer.

This is a long overdue journal update.

We have continued to be blessed. Cassandra's latest scans in July have shown that she remains disease free.

It was four years ago in September that her tumor was removed. It has been four years that Cassandra is cancer free.

Cassandra has started full day kindergarden at the Smithtown Elementary School and LOVES it. She comes home happy and energized by all of her new experiences.

Cassandra's hearing declined again this past January as a result of the chemo therapy and it appears that she will need braces in a year or two. Those are the current issues arrising from her treatment.

We welcomed two new members to our family in April, Lila and Smiley. They are Cassandra's kittens. She loves them a lot and they love her right back.

In the next few days, you may receive an invitation to "Lunch for Life". We challenge you to accept the invitation and help to make a diffrence in the lives of children like Cassandra.

Please continue to keep Cassandra in your prayers as we continue to be in awe of the power of prayer and know the difference it can make.

Dear Family and Friends,

Welcome back to Cassandra's web page. It has been over one year since our last journal entry, and a lot has occurred.

First and most important, Cassandra's scans in May and October both continue to show no evidence of disease !!!! Cassandra has now had no evident disease (aka been cancer free) for THREE years.

Cassandra had a wonderful holiday season last year, a new kitty named Autumn joined the family in February, we visited Hershey Park, Dutch Wonderland, and Sesame Place this July and her Grandma and Grandpa Steinle visited this summer.

This fall Cassandra began pre-school at the Smithtown Christian School and is doing very well. Last year she was in the school district's special education program and she caught up very quickly and adjusted to her hearing aids. The only additional assistance she is getting now is speech twice a week. She will start kindergarten in Fall 2003.

In September, Cassandra and her Daddy were models in a benefit fashion show for the Sunrise Fund at Stony Brook. This is a fund started at the hospital where she was treated that raises money for research, activities for the families, and assistance for the families. Cassandra's Mom, Aunt Nance and Uncle Bill also attended the event. The theme of the show was "Little Miracles", and she certainly is one.

Cassandra is very busy with school and church activities and just being a "normal" child. We have been very blessed.

Please continue to keep Cassandra in your prayers as we know that the power of prayer is awesome.

Love,

John, Eleanore, and Cassandra

Today I have updated Cassandra's web page. It has been almost one year and in that year all has been well.

Cassandra's scans continue to show her NED (no evidence of disease) and we went on a wonderful trip to Orlando, Florida as her Wish Trip in June 2001.

We have been very blessed and thank God every day for that.

Cassandra was diagnosed with neuroblastoma stage IV on April 19, 1999. Cassandra had chemotherapy, surgery, two stem cell rescues, and radiation to treat this very aggressive cancer. Now, she is a thriving two year old and her disease status is NED. That means that there is No Evidence of Disease.
