~~Spencer Griffin~~

Welcome to Spencer's Web Page. On August 21, 2000 we found out that our little man had Rhabdomyosarcoma. He was only 15 months old. We lived in the PICU for 4 months and on the regular Peds floor for 2 months. Spencer is our miracle and my testimony!

Spencer started chemo treatments on August 29, 2000 and finished on July 20, 2001. Sadly, we found out Thanksgiving 2001 that Spencer had relapsed. We started all over again January 2002. He went through chemo again January 7, 2002 until June 14, 2002 then went through 25 radiation treatments - July 17-August 20 2002. We re-started chemo again September 17-December 30, 2002! He has finally finished again and we pray that this will be the end!

**Sadly, we found out 1/9/06 Spencer has relapsed** 1/12/06 Spencer had surgery to remove the two new tumors. This surgery ended up being a pneumonectomy (removal of his total left lung), had some of his pericardium removed and two ribs removed. Spencer will undergo a minimum of six months chemotherapy.

*Please keep Spencer and our family in your prayers*.

Hello everybody! Hope this update finds you all doing well. Spencer is doing great!

Spencer had his CT scan a couple of weeks ago and everything was CLEAR once again. Praise God!! He also had to have his Echo and EKG check-up and that too was normal. Always great news!!! Dr. G decided that Spencer needed to be seen by a gastro doctor. He has some trouble gaining weight and believe me it's NOT because the boy doesn't eat!!! There are certain foods that he loves that just REALLY don't love him. Not going into too much detail we have to take some samples to be tested to try and figure out what (if anything) needs to be done. We have tried giving Spencer the Ensure type milk products, but they don't "agree" with him and he ends up in the bathroom and "disposing" of them. Please lift this request up that we can find something to help in this area.

This month has been a milestone. August 21st (8 years ago) is when Spencer was first diagnosed, and look at him now! What a miracle!! To look at him today, you would NEVER imagine what he has been through and to realize how VERY SICK he was. We thank God everyday for his blessings. There were many obstacles in Spencer's life and he faught each one with a smile on his face. He continues to live his life to the fullest!! He has taught so many of us just what making the best of each day really means.

Today, is the first day of school for our munchkins. Marleigh started 6th grade. She was nervous and to be honest, I was nervous for her. She is growing up and becoming a bright, beautiful young lady. Spencer is in the 4th grade this year. If you would have asked us 8 years ago what we wanted for Spencer -- our answer would have been a grim one. We would have responded, we just want him to make it through the night for a new day; look at him now!! Such a miracle!! Kendall is in 1st grade this year. She has been SO excited about becoming a BIG girl! It wasn't hard to get any of them up this morning for the first day of school -- we'll see how long that lasts!! LOL!!

Please continue to remember all of the ROH kids and their families. Also, the ones in the PICU!!

I leave you with this:
"BLESS the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty"
Psalm 104:1

Until next time....GOD BLESS!!!
