On August 15, 2000, Sean Wade Dinwiddie received his miracle gift of life...a new healthy liver. Born with Biliary Atresia, Sean went on the transplant list in January 2000. That day became a day of reackoning for his family, as we realized that in order for Sean to have this 2nd chance of life, another little one lost hers. While Sean continues to thrive and behave as any other 7yr. old little boy, we will never forget the unselfish act of love his donor mother gave to us that day in August. May God be holding that little one in His own arms, and may her mother know how much they are both loved by us.

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 10:45 PM CDT Oh my! I guess I have taken advantage of Sean's good health! Tonight, Sean and his brother Wyatt, are spending the night with Mamaw and Pa-Pa. Sean and I were viewing this page when I noticed I had not written for a year and a half! While I'm so thankful that Sean has been pretty healthy since then, I never take for granted that things could change overnight.
Sean will be 9 years old next month on the 13th. He will be entering 2nd grade this fall and is finally growing in size. The only new health problems that have developed since my last entry is his severe allergies. They seemed to have developed overnight! His eyes swell up and itch, plus his ezcema worsens. It had become so bad that he was only able to go to school and to home. A trip to our house or his dad's caused him a couple of days of misery. The dermatologist finally found a combo of oral and eye meds to enable him to finally be able to visit us without suffering for days afterwards.
Sean has caught up in school and is a whiz at video games. He loves to be in the water, so with summer coming on he will spend time swimming whenever possible. He's not into sports, but he does love being outdoors. He gets so dark in the summer, and his hair bleaches out. He looks like a little surfer boy. He eats ALL OF THE TIME!!! I had to buy groceries for thier visit today.
Wyatt will be 11 in September. He is almost as tall as Mamaw! He continues to protect Sean and is an awesome brother. Sure they fight like any other siblings, but for the most part they are very close brothers. Thankfully, Wyatt is very healthy. He will spend most of the summer with us, but spending most of it with Pa-Pa. He loves going to the farm and helping him. Sean just likes being with Mamaw, which is fine with her.
In April of last year, thier mother, Mindi, married Bob Peterson. He has been a wonderful step father to the boys, and he and Sean wrestle all the time. They have a really good relationship. They continue to live in Pattonsburg, and Bob works at a nearby car dealership where he works as a mechanic. Mindi was working, but with Sean's allergies causing him to miss so much school before they got them under control, she decided it was better to stay at home. She now babysits and is hoping to soon be adding to their own family. She is finally ready to have another baby, and the boys think it would be cool as well. I'm ready for another grandchild as well, as Lillian (Mindi's brother's daughter) will be 6 years old this August. She is the youngest, so a new addition to our family would be wonderful.
I am working as a Director of Nursing at a long term care facility since August of last year. I work many hours and not able to see the boys as much as I would like. I finally was able to have 2 days off in a row, so I took advantage and had the boys over for the day and night. Lillian was going to come, but she didn't get back home early enough for us to get her. All of them will be coming this weekend though. I just can't imagine life without these wonderful kids.
The Make A Wish foundation spoke with Sean a few weeks ago to see what his wish might be. He has a lot of ideas, but still can't decide which to choose. All I know is he deserves so much after all he's been through. He is just now starting to understand what all he's actually been through. He has never known any difference, so he has started asking some questions. All I know is that this youngest grandson of mine is the bravest boy in the world. He is so special and I thank God everyday for allowing him to be with us. He has taught us so much about the value of life and health.
As always, I could never thank all of you out there enough for your continued support, love and prayers. God does provide for our every need and desire.
In case I don't get back to everyone, please have a fun and safe summer. Love to all of you, from all of us!
