Annie:

I was absolutely fascinated by your journal. I was only able to get through part of it tonight, but will get back to it again tomorrow evening. Thanks for giving me your site. Again, take care and my very best to you and your family!! Thank you also for your encouraging words in your latest e-mail. I know I am in for a rough time, but it is hearing and knowing about folks like you that will help ease the burden.

Gary and Annie:

You probably don't remember me since I was in high school when you were developing real estate and working with my dad, Dick Lattanzi. I don't think I've seen you in almost 20 years! I married in 1990 and my name is now Lisa Eisemann, and I have three kids of my own now. Dick gave me your email to check out your journal - how uplifting! We will add your family to our prayers.

I have a friend and a cousin who have battled lymphoma, although not the kind Annie has been fighting. I know what an ordeal it is, and was so excited to hear of your faith. How people can get through an experience like yours without God is beyond me.
I'll be sure to check out your site every so often. May God bless you all!

Anne, Gary, Kyle and Lily,
Visiting this website and looking at all the entries makes me realize how wonderfully blessed you all are with such caring, loving people in your lives. As the minister from my church has often quoted from a teacher he had in seminary, "God does not will everything that happens, but in everything that happens, God wills good". I am so glad you have such support. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Dear Annie and Gary,
I have seen Gary post on the BMT list. Your website is so very inspiring. God has richly blessed your family as he has mine. My husband, Todd (36), is day 69 from an auto BMT for NHL (he did not have a matched sibling for an allo or that would of been our first choice). He was dx on April 2, 2002 (our 14th anniversary) with stage IV, diffuse large B cell. He is doing great. It really blesses me to see others who have gone through similar circumstances doing so well. May God continue to bless your wonderful family.

Hi Anne & Gary,

I just got caught up on you again. Sounds great. Gary, you're inspiring me to dust off ol' Oswald and give him another reading. Anne, we miss you at CHSF, but we're glad you're getting this disease eradicated. (Now I know why you were so tired two years ago!) Dear Gary, Annie, Kyle, and Lily,

I am so blessed to know that you are progressing so wonderfully! God is so faithful!! I praise Him for placing His healing hand upon you and for answering prayer, Ann, and for putting a hedge about your family during this time. You are ALL such an encouragement to my heart and the hearts of my family.

God has answered many prayers in our lives as well. Bekah and Katie are safely off to college. Katie is currently at Frostburg but has been accepted to Salisbury for Spring. Rebecca, on a wait list of 565 people for campus housing, has gotten it just days before school began--Aug. 29th. Not only did she get it, but she is living in her dorm of choice--the International House (Dorcester Hall). We sold our home in two weeks and agreed to be out Sept. 15th. Yikes--but God can handle it! We found a home in Hampstead (we have possession on Sept. 14th!) and rec'd our signed contract the night before school began at North Carroll H.S. We registered Sarah on the first day of school, she had a tour, visited the band room, met the band director, was allowed to join the marching band (never happens after band camp except when God's hand is in it), found out that a boy had quit just the week before who played mallots (Sarah's favorite) so had a part waiting for her, and began classes the second day of school. She likes it better so far--it is so much smaller than Westminster High and the kids are friendlier. The best part of all is that most of these blessings happened the day after the children's prayer group prayed for us on a Wed. night and sent cards to us! OH, THE POWER OF PRAYER! Thanks, Lily!!!

Sorry this is so lengthy--thought you'd enjoy hearing. We are packing, packing, packing because we are moving this Saturday. Keep up the good work, Ann! Can't wait to see you again!

Love to all of you, Doreen Knauer

Dear Annie,
You were the assistant soccer coach 2 years ago for our son Jonathan with Pat Wheeler. We are the couple who yearly vacation on Cape Cod.You also stated that you had a friend who lives or got married on Marth'a Vineyard.
We were on the soccer field for a practice 2 days ago and we ran into Pat Wheeler. (No we didn't hurt him.) We happened to ask him how you were and had not the slightest idea that you were ill. Pat suggested getting in touch with your web page. What a wonderful idea!
We all hope and pray for you. Keep the faith. Incidentally,we have a cousin who is 6 years out from Multiple Myeloma, with the accompanying BMT, chemo. and alike. He is doing well. If you feel up to it, drop us an E-mail.

Hello Gamber Family,
I am so thankful to God for your boring days! Is it possible that I saw Lily boarding the Water Taxi in Fells Point on Friday? I was there with my boys and my mother when I saw a familiar face - but I thought it was my eyes playing tricks until I read your account of your day on Friday. If it wasn't, I apologize for the wasted space! I'm so glad to see that Kyle and Lily are returning to Granite - I'm sure they will be warmly welcomed! Our family will continue in prayer for yours! God bless you!

Ann and Gary: Great news! The numbers are definitely heading in the right direction. Praise God for your "boring" days and weeks thus far. May the rest of your stay be as uneventful till we see you all again. Take care of each other---and Gary by the way---you are making me hungry with all this talk of the wonderful meals you are creating!!! I have to be careful I am not hungry when I read the updates or I head straight for the kitchen to find something that usually doesn't satisfy. (its hard to beat homemade spaghetti sauce and lasagna!) When you two get back home any thoughts of a cookbook or two authored by you? (smile) May God continue to bless you both and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers daily.

Mr. & Mrs. Gamber,
Hello, I'm a friend of Ashley Myers and her family. Last Saturday i was at your house, actually, riding along with them to drop Kyle off. Ashley emailed me the link to your CaringBridge website and i read your most recent entry along with bits and pieces of the others to try to get an idea of what's going on. I appreciate the perseverance that you've shown and i wanted to encourage you to continue in it. "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." Ps. 27:14
It is my prayer that you are healed and that God is given ever-increasing glory through your situation.
Grace and peace!
Sincerely,

Q: What do President George Bush and Anne Gamber, Esq. have in common?
A: They are remembered in prayer throughout the day by one who cares about them both and the challenges and battles they face.

Anne, everyday, clearly you are brought to mind. I too, like so many others feel like i'm battling with you. Assuming His grace is sufficient, trusting Him with you and praising Him for His faithfulness,

I can not put into words how inspiring you all are to me. I check the news of the day everyday and everyday I am that much more in awe of the two of you and the whole family and network of friends that you all have. Some days it is difficult for me to hold back my tears because of all the love I hear in your daily journal. I always start my day by reading the journal and saying a prayer to God for all of you. It makes my troubles and my aches & pains seem very insignificant and puts everything into perspective for me. You all are teaching everyone of us a very valuable lesson. God is speaking to us through you. Praise God!

Dearest Anne (My Survivor), Gary and Sallie: I am so thankful that you have such a special nurse to take good care of you. Tell her thanks from all of Anne's friends and family. I Priase God for all He has done in Anne's life already. He has many more special jobs for her to do and to witness to others. Her words and yours Glorify the Lord and express your love to Him. You have work hard in the past for Him and I know you will work harder in the future because of what God has brought you through. Anne, you are an inspiration to me and I know many. You know how much I love and care and pray for you. That won't stop even when your home and your hair is long again. God has opened my eyes even wider through your ordeal and I feel so Blessed to be a part of your MIRACLE. Please rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father and know that He will carry you through the rough roads and even the calm ones. He will give you the Peace and strength that you know to go through this. I Praise God for His Love and I Praise God for you. I love you Anne (Gary too!!!!!!!!!!Pal) and I will keep in touch with you. Tell Gary thanks for the Journal. I copied it so I could read it ove again. I love Girlfriend! Love Always, Becky

Annie,

Hi! You do not know me. My name is Corin Kelly. I received a prayer message from the mail from Granite Classical Educational Tutorial. I am a nurse that works with children with cancer and other immune disorders at the National Institutes of Health. Recently, I myself was diagnosed with stage 1 renal cell carcinoma. Though I have been working with cancer patients for the past 12 years, it still could not prepare me for the emotional roller coster ride that I have been on over the last 3 weeks. I want you to know that reading your site and reading about your strong faith in Christ has really been an encouragement to me. I have been a Christian all my life, however I have a tendancy to worry. I really think that God is teaching me how to put my total faith in Him. It is amazing to see how you have done just that. I will continue to pray for God's grace and healing in your life. Continue to read His word every day, and I am sure He will be faithful. May God Truly bless you as I know you bless others! By the way, I am close to Johns Hopkins if you or your mother need anything. Even a home cooked meal!

Thank you so much for maintaining this web page. We are interested in knowing what happens each day. Gary, you are quite a colorful writer! We have been praying for you,as well as requesting prayer from other members of our church. Your strength and courage are a testimony of God's amazing grace. The Lord brought to my mind the picture of Peter walking on the water. God's grace will sustain you if you keep your eyes on Him - do not look at the water raging around you. Dear Annie - I am thinking about you and praying for you, especially today. I just want you to know that you and Gary are inspirations to all who know you - not only for your incredible courage, but your strong faith, which you have made known to us all. There is not a single doubt in my mind that He is with you every minute of every day. He will never desert you and He WILL see you two through this to a wonderful, happy conclusion. After all, He has plans for you! Gary, besides the Lord (or rather through Him), you are the glue keeping this entire episode together. You are to be congratulated and admired for your faith and your diligence. Those of us "on the outside" so appreciate all the time you're taking to keep us informed. But, I do believe that what you're doing is all part of His plan. Only He knows how many hearts and lives you've touched by your exclamations of faith and your trust in Him. We love you both very much. This "bump in the road" has been and will continue to be an enormous blessing in your lives and in the lives of those of us who are blessed to know you.

Hi Annie, Barb D. posted you as a prayer request on the Swap (a homeschooling website). Her kids are in the same two day classical school as yours. I just wanted to let you know that now you have a whole bunch of gals praying for you from all over the country. I'm here in Montana.

I know that the Lord uses everything for His glory and this will be no exception. I encourage you and your family to keep on shining His light. "In the world, you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world..." John 16:33

Bet you can't wait til this is over so you don't have to spend 24/7 with Gary.

Contemplate for just a moment just how many people will be stopping whatever they are doing at noon today to pray for you and for Anne and your family. Rest assured that Kelly and I will be two of those people. But the prayers said at noon will be just one set in a continuous stream of peditions that have been flowing to the Throne of Grace since Anne's condition has been made known to her friends and family and that stream of prayers will continue until the day Anne has completely passed through her current trial. . . and probably well beyond. That's a lot of powerful prayer. God Bless!

Anne - You'll be on my mind and in my prayers all day today.

One of my favorite Bible verses says,
"Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders."

This is about you, Anne.

Hi Annie--I had a BMT too, in July of 1999 for relapsed AML and am doing great. I just got back from a four-day college "tour" with my 16 yr old...the things you have to look forwrd to!!! I have emailed Gary a couple of times and hope he has shared some of my thoughts with you. My girls were about the same age as your children when I was first diagnosed. It's a hard journey but well worth it! I will be praying for you as you head into transplant...a day at a time, perhaps a minute at a time but regardless, God is with you always.moments of grace will appear daily.

Annie, I know you are going through hell, but there can be a light at the end of the tunnel. I was diagnosed with cml on 1/93(Friday the 13th) and had an unrelated allogeniec bmt on 4/93 and my donor's name is Megan. I spent 2 months in Hahnemann University Hosp. in Philadelphia and another 10 months recovering at home. I have not taken a pill since 1 year post-bmt and run 5 miles 3 times a week. I won't kid you, everyone is not this fortunate. I feel as if I am cured and love to be an inspiration to others. I know the chemo is horrendous, but it will eventually wear off. Please get well and write me anytime. Take care.

Hi Annie,
I am Christy and am on the Faith List. I lost my 2 year old daughter to Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which is VERY rare in children, it's more common in older adults over 60. Jordyn fought the beast for 14 months, she was dx at 6 days before she turned 1 and died at the sweet tender age of 2 years, 1 month, and 8 days old.
Jordyn had a BMT..and it was "successful", sadly some of the leukemia cells were dormant during her chemo and radiation to prepare for the BMT and almost 3 months later the leukemia came back.
We found that turning to God and holding onto our faith was the thing that kept us going during Jordyn's treatment and while she was dying and since her death.
I pray that you can beat this cancer and stay here as God has planned for you. One thing I have complete belief in, is that GOD does NOT give cancer.
God Bless all of you and your family...
If you would please visit Jordyn's site that I have made for her...

This a wish, hope and a prayer from another survivor of Lymphoplasmacytic Lymphoma. Also, my birthday is December 17th and I was re-diagnosed with this type Lymphoma in 2001 but am told I have had it for many years previous to current diagnoses. 8 Rituxan have kept me stable for sixteen months and counting but we (my doc and I) expect a relapse anytime.

Dear Annie and Gary,
I checked out your website today and I will be checking it regularly. We've got your name on two prayer chains and also spoke to a few other intercessors we know, my mother in law, being one of them. We've got you covered in prayer and are trusting and believing God for complete recovery. He is a loving and compassionate God and truly cares about all the facets of what you are experiencing right now. He is not far off - but right there with you. I pray that He makes His presence and Peace known to you each day of the journey. Just know that we are keeping you before the throne of Grace - DAILY - sometimes even HOURLY. God has you on my mind constantly and I respond with sincere heartfelt prayer. Will be in touch again soon.

Anne and Gary, I signed your guestbook on Sunday the 21st, I think. But today I can't find it. Oh well! Praying and thinking of you both. God is mighty and gracious. I'm praying that His grace will overflow in you as you take in all this chemo. medication. Gary, it sounds like you are doing such an outstanding job of taking care of your sweetie. It's a blessing to read about it!!! Blessings to you both! Love, Julie

Dear Anne and Gary,
Had to stop by to say hi. Gary your updates are fantastic. It helps me (and everyone else too, I'm sure) to feel like we can really walk along side you and know what to pray for so specifically. Your sense of humor is a real blessing. Is the cable TV up and running today? I'de watch out for that spongebob guy :) Glad to hear the Hickman procedure went well. We're praying the next steps will go just as well. Grace and Peace to you both!
In Christ,
Sherry

Dear Annie and Gary,

I am glad to hear the Hickman is in place! Handwashing is so important. It is the most effective way of killing those germs. We used a product called Avagard D from 3M that contains moisturizer so it does not cause your hands to crack and peel from the frequent washings. You can read about it at http://www.allheart.com/3m922x.html

I pray for you both daily.

Love in Christ -John

Hi Annie, I wanted to let you know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers everyday. Your unbelievable strength and faith in the LORD has encouraged me to make my faith even stronger. I'm not sure if you know who I am, I go to Wakefield and I just had a little girl on April 26th. Just a couple hints for you. May GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Thank you, Anne and Gary, for your excellent and spirited communication. Today is my first view of the website and it is very helpful. The family will appreciate it too. I did have trouble in the journal finding words with 5 letters or less!

Anne, I see that some special treatments begin today. We will pray that side effects will be thrwarted. And we will continue to pray for success in the larger procedure, and for God's grace for all of you through this time.

Thank you Gary, for beeping the horn the other week. I hadn't seen you with your new hair style so it took me a moment to figure. I think that must have been Kyle next to you.

We love you all. Psalm 23:1.

7/23/2002 - Dear Annie, When Pastor Horner asked for a show of hands, of those who would pray for you regularly, I think that everyone in the congregation raised their hands! What a wonderful privilege we have, as members of the body of Christ, to bring our requests into the throne room of God the Father. Vickie, Kathy, Bobby and I pray for you individually and also as a family. Tonight we asked that our God will see you through each day and that He will minimize the effects that the treatments will have on your body. We asked that through all of this, that He will rid your body of cancer and that He will cause the bone marrow transplant to work, producing what your body needs for a healthy life, that you might continue on as the wife and mother that your family needs and loves. May God bless you and your family as you all trust in Him for the outcome. Love, the Johnstons

Dear Annie,
Although I have always thought of you as an amazing woman, I can truly say that your strength over the past few months has been incredible, inspirational, and unstoppable. Many others (men and women both) could not have kept up your positive attitude in the face of such trying circumstances.

My thoughts are with you today, as they have been everyday. I am looking forward to visiting you in your satellite apartment to hear your wonderful, infectious laugh.

Love,
Deanna
