Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Proverbs 15:13

Welcome to Jordan's Web Page!

Thanks so much for stopping by to pay us a visit today. I pray you will be encouraged, and share the hope we have found after reading about all the wonderful things the Lord has been doing in Jordan's life and so many of his friends.

In the book of 1Thessalonians 5:16-18 the Bible says: "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

In April of 2002, we received the news that would change the course of our lives forever. Jordan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This was the beginning of a journey we could never have dreamed we would be taking. And yet, the amazing love of God was revealed to us in greater ways than we could have ever imagined. All along this winding path, we have been joined by so many new friends, which we could never have known otherwise. We have witnessed so many miracles, shared joys and tears, good times and hard times, but through them all have found that God is truly the Rock upon which we stand. And now, four years later, Jordan is on the road to becoming a brain tumor survivor!

Jordan has a "Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma" (JPA) located in the optic chiasm and hypothalamic region, with some spread into the brainstem and third ventricle. Because of the location of this tumor, Jordan has many Endocrine deficits. Some of the issues we deal with as a result of this are, Growth Hormone Deficiency, hypothyroid, Diabetes Insipidus (regulation of thrist) and Osteoporosis (loss of the normal density of bone and fragile bone). Jordan developed hearing loss after radiation. After biopsy surgery was performed at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Jordan's tumor was determined to be inoperable due to the surrounding structures in this region of his brain. Last year Jordan had to receive 30 external radiation treatments at St. Jude Childrens Hospital to stop the slow progression the lesion had continuing to show. The initial post-radiation reports have indicated that the tumor is beginning to shrink. We now believe that these positive results will continue, and the tumor will eventually die and Jordan will be totally healed.

I would to like thank all of our family and friends that have provided so much support to us through the years, and to all of our new CB family that pray and offer support to Jordan on a daily basis. I've once read that Courage can be defined as: spirit, determination, and bravery. But have you ever wondered what Courage looks like? I think that the children we have met in this battle epitomize the true picture of that word. They are the real heros that we honor in this war.

"So be strong and take courage, all you who put your hope in the Lord" Ps. 31:34

Dear Faithful friends,

We're home with some GREAT news! Jordan's tumor remained stable. Gosh...there are just NO words to explain how relieved we are.

Thanks so very, very much for your prayers and concern over the years.

We will still continue with our 6 months visits due to the fact Jordan has some cysts that are attached to his tumor that continue to grow and change.

We'll monitor this closely. I wish I could say this is all "behind us now", but I'm just grateful Jordan is so healthy otherwise. And we still have him here.

Our visit was tense, Jordan's MRI was pushed back to 4:00pm. We were in clinic for 7:00am. What a LONG day with out food or water, gosh...I felt so bad for him. (Mom was fasting with him too!)

We did meet 3 great new families. All beautiful little girls this time, brain tumor patients as well.

I'll come back and post some neat pictues from our visit. Please check out my blog for more.

Randy, I wish you were on Facebook! We could talk daily. Come on, give in and join the fun!

We're now walking on air and giving thanks to God for all His has done.

You are all the best. I so appreciate you continuing to pray and check up on my boy.

Lots of love and gratitude,

~Susan & Jordan~

Hi Everyone,

Just popping in tonight to thank you ALL so much for faithfully stopping by and leaving such encouraging messages, prayers, and sweet thoughts.

Yes Randy, I do have a lot on my mind. We fly out this Sunday for Memphis.

Please, please remember to pray EXTRA hard for this scan.

I keep going back and forth in my mind. But I know this, GOD IS IN TOTAL CONTROL.

His grace is sufficient. He loves Jordan more then I ever could.

We're excited about the upcoming Give Thanks Walk for St. Jude. We're getting a "Team Jordan" group of walkers now.

I promise to update as soon as I get the GOOD news!!

I'm so grateful for you Randy, Lynn and any other people who still stop by from time to time.

Jordan is doing well, but losing weight. The drs. here think it's his meds. I pray that is correct.

Love you all!!!

Susan

PS We have a special birthday coming up!! My best buddy Tonya!!!

Hello my faithful friends!

I would like to start this post by apologizing for this way over-due update! I truly appreciate your devotion to keep checking up on Jordan, so I hope you will understand and forgive my tardiness. Image hosting by TinyPic

Note to Randy…I love to read all of your sweet comments! You have such a way with words, and you make me smile each time I read them. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Note to Lynn…the scriptures you post, always minister to me in such a powerful way. Thank you both for being such an encouragement to Jordan and me!

Well, we just got back from St. Jude last week from Jordan’s 6 month check up. We headed up this time with lots of enthusiasm, as we were anticipating this being our last visit to the Radiation/Oncology Clinic.

We were now 5 years post radiation, and at our last appointment, they told us once you complete this milestone, you graduate to the ACT clinic.

So, with each visit with Jordan’s many doctors and nurses, we gave them our thanks for all the love and care they had provided and had our final good byes. And of course, I took tons of pictures. We also got to see some of our special friends, and made some new ones. It’s always like a home-coming for us at St. Jude.

On the afternoon of our last day, we went to visit Jordan’s oncologist for our final follow up and to review the results of the MRI they took on Monday.

It was then that we found out there had been some changes in his tumor since our visit last November. It seems to have grown by about one cm on all three axis. Now, they are not calling this a relapse, but there was some concern, and they did not release us. We are now scheduled to return in 6 months for another follow up. Image hosting by TinyPic

Truly, this was a
major shock
to us all. At this stage, we should only be seeing the tumor continue to shrink up.

I must say, everything stood still after hearing those dreaded words. I didn’t know what to say, as I was caught completely off guard.

Jordan is doing so well, considering he was so ready to move on. He handles these things so much better than I do! We are so proud of him. Jordan continues to work at Wal-Mart part time and loves it there. He also enjoys his nieces and nephew. And adores his cat Caesar!

Here at home Jordan continues to be monitored closely by his team of doctors here. One thing we know for sure that he is in good hands, actually the best hands…God’s mighty, loving and faithful hands.

Here are some pictures we took on our trip. Hope you enjoy them. I promise not to stay away so long next time.

Oh,…our trip ended on the
brightest note.
We got to spend part of our last day with Tonya and the boys. What a major blessing that was for us. It is always such a joy to see her, Zach, and Gabe

God has truly knitted our hearts together over the years.

And Randy, we still talk about coming to visit YOU! So be warned. He He…

If you get the chance, please take a few minutes to visit Tonya and I at our blogs!
