As you can tell, Kirsten's doing amazingly well. She's so beautiful that it makes me a little worried for the
future :-) The kids turned 13 on October 8, so needless to say we're all having lots of fun with teenage and puberty issues.

Kirsten's health is pretty good- we've still got an all-clear from the oncologist, which is, as always, the best possible news. Our last appointment was to see the nephrologist in October, and although there are some slight concerns she's doing great right now. We always knew that her chemo regimen could possibly lead to later kidney problems, but they are well under control at the moment so it's just a wait and see game. We are now on a yearly visit schedule with her oncologist, so we won't be going back until June. Although we all miss the wonderful people that we met while we were at the hospital, it's also pretty wonderful not to have to go back there as often.

She is finally getting a growth spurt which (needless to say) is making her very happy. Rachel has really sprung up in the last two years and it's been frustrating for Kirsten to not be as tall as Rachel is. I think that by the time they hit grade 9 next year she's going to be well within range of her friends.

And she is an awesome, awesome person. Although she does drive me crazy at times (she's 13- she's allowed), she is almost unfailingly nice, polite, empathetic, and generous. Her dedication to Rachel and Dylan never fails- if anything, I have to discourage her from trying to help them too much so that they can be as independent as possible as well. They are all great kids.

Thanks so much to everyone for their continued interest and emails asking how she's doing...as always, we never would have made it this far without the love and support of all of our friends and family.
