Jason's Race for a Cure

Welcome!
This page was created to keep everyone updated on my progress in my fight to beat CML!

Please see the journal below for the latest information and see other updates by viewing the History section. This is the best way to find out how Jason is doing!

We can not thank you enough for visiting! This page will have the latest updates on my progress and will allow Rebecca and I to keep up with our family and friends! We are grateful for all of the support we have already received!

My marathon in San Diego was very successful! In the last year, with your help, we have raised almost $10,000 to go to the Leukemia Society to support research and patient programs! And now, I have an even larger challenge ahead, a stem cell (bone marrow) transplant.

Many of you have asked how you can help (though it is not very easy for us to ask, since everyone has contributed so much already!).

In an effort to help support our trip to Los Angeles and the costs associated with the transplant, an account has been established with the National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF).

NTAF will establish a fund in Jason's honor, allowing contributions to be tax deductable to contributors. They will act as the trustee, assuring that fiscal accountability and appropriate distribution for treatment-related costs, such as uninsured medical charges, prescriptions, home care, relocation and transportation costs.

For more information contact NTAF:

NTAF@transplantfund.org
or 1-800-642-8399.

You can also contact Rebecca for further information, fundraising ideas or have letters sent to you. NTAF also offers gift matching programs for corporate donors. Jason will pobably be out of work for a year and we will be in the Los Angeles area for at least 3 months, so anything helps! And best of all, all donations are TAX DEDUCTABLE!

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
* PRAY

* Call your local blood bank and ask how to become a donor... for blood, platelets or bone marrow

* Pass this website on to your friends, colleagues, family.

* Leave a message for Jason! Sign the guestbook, e-mail him or Rebecca

* Send Jokes, letters, gag gifts, etc... to Jason when he is in the hospital (see address and tips below)

* Finally, keep checking this site for the latest news, updated needs and information!

TIPS FOR SENDING THINGS TO JASON:

Please know while we are thankful for your thoughtfulness, Jason does have restrictions on what he can receive at the hospital. Therefore, everything will be sent in care of his brother Jeremy McEntire at :

3203 Nebraska Ave. #4
Santa Monica, CA 90404

At the request of his doctors, please do not send live flowers, plants or homemade food items. Jason's immune system will be compromised and these items may be dangerous for his health.

To contact Jason and Rebecca by e-mail:

Jason: Jaymack63@yahoo.com
Rebecca: Reba1717@yahoo.com

By Phone: 209-603-7712.

Please know that phone calls are appreciated but not all may be returned.

ENJOY THE SITE!
