Steve's Page Welcome to Steven Sanchez's page to keep everyone updated on his recovery.
On July 23, 2004 Steven, who was 17 years old at the time, went out BMX biking. This is one of the things Steven loved to do. He fell and broke his back and is now paraplegic. He was at Santa Clara Valley Medical for about a month in recovery. Fast forward 18 months. Steve is cool. Pretty much self sufficient, graduated high school, has had a couple of jobs, went to West Los Positas College for a semester, and is keeping his faith. Basically living a teenagers life on wheels! Feel free to write in the guestbook, all thoughts are appreciated.
Thank you for everyones support.

Tuesday, March 28, 2006 11:53 AM CST For Stevens last day of therapy Nicole will have him going over some of the things he learned so that he can relay these techniques to a therapist at home if he so chooses. He will be coming back here in a few of months due to increased funding from Pepsi Co. This is good because it seems to me that it’s going to a take a place like this to keep him motivated. Its much different here than at a regular gym. Like I said before everybody here is in a similar situation, so relating is easy and comfortable. Steven thought that he might be able to go to Santa Clara Valley to practice with his leg braces. They are geared more toward spinal cord injury patients and the therapists could assist better than your everyday 24hr fitness trainer. I’m not sure how they would feel about a person coming in that has had out of the country surgery though. Mean while will move on with our lives. Steven was talking about moving out this summer with a couple of friends. He certainly wants to be independent and doesn’t seem to be afraid of living on his own disability or not. We say go for it.
